    3. Betty, Lewisham was in Kent before 1889, then in London. It's one of several locations that Ancestry have recorded incorrectly in their databases as being in Middlesex. While your couple may have married at St Mary Lewisham, the marriage registers were damaged by a fire at the church in the 1830s, and only fragments survive for the relevant period. So your best hope is that they married somewhere else! I wouldn't assume that the mother came from Lewisham on the basis of the daughter's baptism. Do you have any of these people in a census? For a better chance of getting some useful help, can you tell us more of what you know, and what the source of your information is?
