Cheryl Anne, don't overlook the folk who migrated to Australia, didn't like it, and then went to NZ. I have several of these in my family. You may want to look at the incoming records to Sydney or Melbourne, in case they are there. Do you know if they were assisted or unassisted immigrants? Cheers Philippa - HI to all on the list It's been a while since I posted to the list but I get the Digest form everyday to keep up to speed with postings. I have a question and was hoping someone on this list might be able to shed some light. My George William Cook (a copper miner) emigrated from Wappenham, Kent, between 1845 - 1849 (aged 22 - 26yrs) to Wellington, New Zealand. Can someone please advise what shipping records exist in England which could identify his departure? Alternatively, surely there would not have been too many departures from England to New Zealand during the period of 1845-1849. Is anyone able to identify the name of the ships? Here in NSW we have published journals which list assisted and unassisted immigrants to NSW but I have no way of accessing English ships who landed in Wellington, NZ. Any help would be greatly appeciated. Kind regards Cherylanne. >
