I just wish I knew why William from Shifnal, Shropshire, married Elizabeth from Durham, in Benenden where their daughter Elizabeth was born before they headed to the north-east to have the rest of their children. There could have been a child before Elizabeth as she wasn't baptised until April 1801 - maybe even illegitimate. The only reason that I can think of is that William was a gardener and ended his days as a gardener at Coxhoe Hall. Unfortunately I have been unable to find any records for Coxhoe Hall. William comes from Shifnal in Shropshire - I have found an entry that indicates that Elizabeth, his wife, was born in Durham. All their other children were born in Durham.
