Dear Listers, I am trying to obtain the birth cert from the GRO for Henry William Goulden but I am having trouble obtaining a reference number. >From the various census entries I can determine that he was born in Whitstable (Blean) in 1842. However there is no record of an entry for him in Free BMD or from the Index pages listed in Find My Past. The nearest match that I can find is in Sep qtr 1842 for a Male Goulden in Blean. I thought that in order to register a birth a forename had to be given in addition to the surname but perhaps someone could clear that up for me. Other than this shot in the dark are there any other ways to locate the birth details for Henry William GOULDEN.? I have sent away for this cert to see what transpires and I am hoping that it shows Father Henry Goulden, occ Engine driver, mother Ann GOULDEN formerly Court If anyone has already been down this road I would be delighted to hear from you. Cheers Ian in Hong Kong.
