You're right, my mistake - I followed the 'District Information' link on FreeBMD for Chatham (created 1941) back through Strood and Hoo to Strood to North Aylesford, didn't look at Medway for some reason. Luton as such doesn't get a mention anywhere, must have been too small even in the 1850s Anyway, there's no George Edwards in Medway either. There is this Births Jun 1853 McCallum George Charles Medway 2a 284 which is most likely a red herring.
