Hi Listers, While we are all looking at the latest challenge of Henry Glanville Bogg marriage I found on the below link which states: Register searches You cannot search the register. The law does not allow the registers themselves to be searched. We are happy to make a search of the indexes on your behalf, but only for specific entries - we cannot undertake extensive research for family history. http://www.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/info/200111/records_and_archives/250/registry_records_and_certificates I left feedback on this page with the below question: Comments: You state the Law does not allow the registers to be searched. In light of the growing interest in family research and people searching parish registers all over the UK and beyond as well as subscription paid index searches as standard enquiry I am wondering and would appreciate clarification in what context you actually mean. I've received a response this morning saying that they have forwarded my question to the Registry Office and I can't wait for the answer !! I'm sure there would be many of us that would be hung, drawn and quartered by now if this were true. Any Lister comments? Thanks. Kind regards, Linda

The only exception to this is if the current register is not yet full and is still in the parish itself and then searching is up to the incumbent. Lozzie T

Frances, Henry G. BOGG junior is aged 1 month in 1881. According to his baptism record (12 December 1882, at St Mary Magdalene, Woolwich) he was born on 19 February 1881. Births Mar Qtr 1881 BOGG Henry Granvill Woolwich 1d 1222 I suspect the mother will have been Clara Lucy FARR (birth registered Jun Qtr 1857, Lewisham 1d 624). There is a baptism record for Clara Lucy FARR born 23 March 1857 and baptised 19 April 1857 at St Mary Magdalene, Woolwich, from Plumstead, the daughter of James FARR and Harriet. They are found easily enough in the census. But the above is speculation and, failing a marriage to Henry BOGG, you will (as Andy has said) need a child's birth certificate to establish Clara Lucy's maiden name with any certainty. The only thing I can suggest is to get one of the birth certificates of the children which would then give you her maiden name. Then see if you can track her on an marriage list. They may not have married in Plumstead. I have a few in my research who married elsewhere but returned to their area of birth for the rest of their lives. Hello Frances, Plumstead comes under Woolwich Henry b 1858 and Clara 1857 born in Plumstead. I found Henry on the 1891 census living in Marmadon Road, Woolwich, house painter. 1911 Living Timbercroft Lane, Plumstead greengrocer eleven children l died. married 31 years, so must have married about 1880 Cannot find a marriage Henry died in 1924 Woolwich Clara died in 1938 Woolwich So perhaps they did not actually get married? Records for Plumstead are held at the Greenwich Register Office Yvonne -----Original Message----- From: Frances Lee Sent: Saturday, September 28, 2013 1:03 PM To: KENT-ENG@rootsweb.com Subject: [KENT-ENG] The Marriage of Henry Glanville Bogg to Clara LucyUnknown Dear Listers Can anyone help with a mystery? Have been trying to find for years the marriage of Henry Glanville Bogg to Clara Lucy unknown. There is the marriage of their son who is also Henry Glanville Bogg in Woolwich in 1905 but it's not him I want! There are three marriages for the older Henry Glanville Bogg's brother John Glanville Bogg but I have him. It's driving me nuts! I know so little about Clara Lucy unknown except she was born in or around 1857 in Plumstead. Reenee I looked on Ancestry for you for Stannard. It seems to be an old name dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries in Frittenden, Kent and Canterbury, Kent. There is a marriage entry for William Garratt and Sarah Stannard on 14th August, 1738 in Ash, Canterbury. Is there any particular names you want searching for?
