    3. Hi Gloria, You know that Priscilla YOUNG - daughter of Robert and Jemimah YOUNG - was christened in 1768 Priscilla YOUNG - gave birth to a daughter Fanny YOUNG - Christened in 1789 iat Horsonden Kant Aug 1789 Priscilla would have been aprox 21 years old at the time ? Priscilla YOUNG - married James CLIFTON - Horsmonden, Kent in 1796 [ Fanny would have been aprox 7 years old at the time. NOTE: - some families - may not accept - a child - Perhaps Priscilla had to give her up to ? Workhouse - ? Did Priscilla have siblings ? - perhaps they took in the child - Fanny. GIVEN NAME : FANNY - can also be FRANCES. Perhaps - Fanny stayed with her Grandparents - Robert & Jerimiah YOUNG - after the marriage in 1796. Have you searched available census over the years. Is it possible that Fanny - had a middle name -? - perhaps used same - when her mother married James CLIFTON Do you find a female of aprox age - in the Census - for James and Priscilla CLIFTON. Perhaps Fanny - passed away ? either under the YOUNG or CLIFTON surnames Do you know When? Where? Pricilla CLIFTON nee YOUNG - passed away - ? - perhaps there will be some reference to Fanny Cheers & Good Luck, Stella >On Thu, Feb 13, 2014 at 3:44 PM, gloria <sunflower1975@comcast.net> wrote: > > > Hello, > > > > > > > > One of my ancestors, Priscilla YOUNG (born to Robert and Jemimah Young and > > christened 23 Oct 1768 in Horsmonden, Kent). 3. Hi Bob, Did Fanny have a middle name . She was christened - Fanny? some people reverse the given and middle names - preferring one over the other. My research - has many who appear to choose - different given names - over time - even in marriage Harry - becomes Henry - in some documents - the reverse in others - the christening - shows the name Tihomas Henry documents show Henry or Harry Thomas - or the reverse - on Marriage . birth of children -death registrations. Females - christened Julia / Julianna - sometimes show as Helen on the birth of one of the children Anna. Hannah Anastasia - Annie, Ann - and Lizzie - for another . I imagine no one asks for documentation - to show - the original given name also - Olga becomes Elizabeth - - and another Elizzsbeth becomes Isobel . Makes research - difficult - interesting . In some family histories - families - who have not done proper research / documentation - guess. they seem to know the names of Fathers, Grandfathers - uncles - but the females - - almost forgotten. women carry the title - mother, auntie, grandmother , etc - no need to know the given name - sadly Cheers, Stella At 01:56 PM 13/02/2014, you wrote: >I had a GGG christened in Kent in 1780 with the name of Fanny and she >appears every where else as Mary. > >Just a thought! > >Bob > > >On Thu, Feb 13, 2014 at 3:44 PM, gloria <sunflower1975@comcast.net> wrote: > > > Hello, > > > > > > > > One of my ancestors, Priscilla YOUNG (born to Robert and Jemimah Young and > > christened 23 Oct 1768 in Horsmonden, Kent). I hope this helps. I came across the entry looking for James Tappenden b 1831 in Westwell Kent, which is near Ashford. Hello, Listers, If you are a male FOAD, FOADE or FOAT (probably with ancestors in Kent) and you are attending the 'Who Do You Think You Are-Live' genealogy exhibition in London, 20-22 February, please consider stopping by the ISOGG booth (International Society of Genetic Genealogy) for a FREE Y-DNA test. As administrator of the Foad Surname DNA Project I am sponsoring standard 67-marker Y-DNA tests for new project members. These are standard genealogical tests with no health-related information in them. An ISOGG volunteer will do the test right there, so there is no fuss or bother for you, and the only requirement is some basic information about your paternal-line pedigree. Please read about our project results, so far, at : http://www.familytreedna.com/public/FoadSurname/default.aspx?section=results If you have any questions please e-mail me, or ask the ISOGG volunteer. I look forward to you taking part in our research. ... Martin H. Potter Administrator, Foad Surname DNA Project Researching FOAD, FOADE, FOAT KFHS # 9610
