It just happened that way with your particular search. You'll see an explanation of what the different shading means above the results. "Change of shade means a possible gap in the data". I was looking for a LEWIS/PRITCHARD marriage. I found it in the June qtr of 1867. Put those names and the year into FreeBMD and have a look at the entries and you'll see what I mean. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Greinton and Clutton, SOM Asst OPC for Ashcott and Shapwick, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk

    1. [KENT-ENG] Henry Parsons md. Mary Roots, Sevenoaks 1749
    2. John Lisle
    3. Hi, I am looking for information about the families of Henry Parsons and Mary Roots who married in Sevenoaks on 10 April 1749 (FHL Film 1473691). I have found the following Parsons records in Sevenoaks. FHL Film 1473691 Hannah Parsons widow bur. 8 January 1747/48 Henry Parsons Md. Mary (bu. 15 May 1747) Md. (10 April 1749, Sevenoaks) Mary Roots (both of this parish) Hannah (bp. 10 Sept 1749) Henry (bp. 8 March 1750/51) William (bp. 18 Mar 1753) Thomas (bp. 29 February 1756) John Parsons (bur. Sevenoaks 27 January 1757) Film 1473693 Marriages. 1757, p. 14 No. 54 Nathaniel Stedman of this parish and Mary Parsons of this Parish were married in this church by Banns, Seventh day of November in year One Thousand seven hundred and fifty seven by me John Hughes [Curate]. They both signed it. In Presence of Isaac Pather??? and Richard Ekins IGI (Patron Submission) Henry Parsons md. Mary Brown 9 Nov 1732 Sevenoaks I have not found any Parsons records in Sevenoaks after 1757. I suspect the the Mary Parsons that Nathaniel Stedman married was the widow of Henry Parsons, but I have not found a burial record for Henry, unless the John Parsons record should have been Henry, but the microfilm was clear...) Does anyone know of any data on Henry or his family after 1757 in Sevenoaks or elsewhere? Does anyone have any information on his history or what family he might have had with his first wife? If true that Mary Parsons was a widow, does anyone have any genealogy of the Root(e)s family of Sevenoaks? Based on IGI submissions, they were a large family in Sevenoaks in 1700s. Lastly, I am interested in any details of Nathaniel Stedman. There was also a Nathaniel Stedman Jr. who had children baptized in Sevenoaks before moving to Rochester in 1780s. He may not have been a son of Nathaniel although most sources suggest this. John Lisle Nashua, NH

I think you are referring to www.freebmd.org.uk which is currently up to 1935 so far with a fair percentage done up to 1940. Search for the name of the person of interest, then click on the blue reference number and it will give you the names of the other people who appear on the same page. It works so long as there isn't more than one bride with the same given name! Where that happens, you might be lucky with one of the children being given the mother's maiden name as a middle name. Same, of course, applies to grooms where you may know his given name but not his surname. Depending on which parish the family lived in and when, you might be able to find their marriage in Ancestry UK's new parish registers. If you don't get a hit, it doesn't mean your couple didn't marry there. It could be down to a yet to appear parish or year or Ancestry's well known giddy indexing. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Greinton and Clutton, SOM Asst OPC for Ashcott and Shapwick, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk

    3. On Ancestry - Find the partner - then click on the Page Number - that brings up the other marriages recorded on the same Page. Note sometimes with different entries for the same person due to the way the transcription of the records has been done. Sometimes the page number is missing or wrong, therefore look at the actual image and work out the page number. Then Use the Refine box to enter what details you do know.

If you're using FreeBMD, click on the page number in the results to find all other entries recorded on that page, it usually returns two men and two women although earlier pages had four couples. 3. Hi jan, I have been doing a little researching this morning 1. I agree with Sue, the most obvious for your George A Bath is the birth in Dover 1917. You will have to get the certificate to find the mother and hopefully the father. 2. There is a family of two sons and four girls living in Dover under the name of Bath on the 1901 census. It would pay to keep this family in mind, especially if George turns out to be illegitimate. Any one of the girls could be the mother. Plus the fathers name is George E J Bath, so it's distrinctly possible. 6 Hultsdorph Cottages, Dover George E J Bath 36, postman, born Charlton, Dover and wife Elizabeth M, 32, born Rainham Kent with children Harold C F, 10, born Charlton, Dover Mary M, 9, born Charlton Dover Elizabeth F, 6, born Buckland Dover Edith F, 5, born Buckland Dover Mabel E, 3, born Buckland Dover George, son, 2, born Charlton Dover 3. The national archives documents online is constantly putting up naval records of various discriptions. There are seamens lists, medals, seamens wills and all sorts on this website. I had a quick squizz but I am having trouble with the site at the moment, which is unusual... but pays to keep checking these sites, even if nothing comes up right away. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/ 4. British Royal Naval personnel records have 3 repositories - see the attached website for Mariners http://www.mariners-l.co.uk/UKRNPersonnel.html 5. if you find a record and have trouble deciphering it (as I did with one of mine) then join a Mariners list at rootsweb. They are a mine of information including deciphering the jargon and the history of ships that people served on etc etc Gives great background on the person, when you have all this. 6. There is only one Bath and Briant marriage when just putting in bath + Briant in freebmd Sarah susannah Bath and possibly married James Briant in Stepney in 1858 - so this probably won't help much. 3. Hi Jan Ancestry.co.uk family trees actually has the Fewer family tree which includes George E J Bath. The daughters are on there but there is not much detail. If you establish that this is the right family and you don't have access to Ancestry I will be happy to forward an email on your behalf. This shows George Edward John Bath b Dec Qtr. 1864 in Charlton, Dover, (ref: 2a 748) died 1909 Dover (ref: 2a 538) with a marriage to Elizabeth Johnson in Dec Qtr. 1889. However on checking FreeBMD for this marriage (ref: 2a 1827)it appears to show George's wife as Elizabeth Mary Elvey (however possibly a widow at marriage - although she is a bit young for this having been shown as being b 1868 on the Fewer family tree). I have found an Elizabeth M Elvey b Rainham, Kent in 1871. She is living in Adisham, Kent. I can't find her in the 1881 census nor can I find her birth on FreeBMD nor an Elvey/Johnson marriage. 3. Hello, It gets pretty quiet here on a Sunday morning so I spent some time googling the name of my only titled relative, a great aunt, and came up with some interesting facts. I discovered for the first time her mother had been the mistress of George Charles, who later inherited his father's title as the 8th Duke of Marlborough, and whose nephew in later years was to buy a house in Westerham, Kent. His uncle, the Duke in waiting, sired a bastard son in 1881 in Paris, who then became an unwelcome and embarrassing half brother of my great aunt. This was a very well kept secret when I was growing up seventy years ago At best, this is a half relationship and came to me through my great aunt's marriage to one of my maternal grandfather's older brothers, but can anyone tell me what relation, if any I am to WLSC? Thanks, Nick

His mother was actually married to someone else at the time of his birth and took a poor woman's divorce. She never actually married William George ROGERS which is why I couldn't find it. I have Caroline's family back to the beginning of the 19th century. I now have to find which William George ROGERS is mine with absolutely nothing to go on at the moment other than the possible death in 1880 which gives an age at death of 42, so b c1838. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Greinton and Clutton, SOM Asst OPC for Ashcott and Shapwick, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk

    3. Hi Jan There is the birth of a George A Bath registered in Dover district in the December Qtr. Of 1917. The Reference is 2a 1527. From the fact that his mother's maiden name is given as Bath is seems likely that he may be illegitimate. You can get a copy of his birth certificate online from www.direct.gove.uk by quoting the above information. This will hopefully give his father's name. I have joined this list hoping to help a Cousin find out more about his Family. I am looking for informtion on a George A. BATH who was born in Dover in 1917.. We dont have much to go on... except that George was in the British Navy in WW2 and visited the Family here in Brisbane....during the war.. Does anyone have a George A. BATH born in 1917 in their FAmily Would Navy Records be available for WW2. as I said not much to go on............and Old Photo is out main source of information.....We believe George is related and the discovery of the Photo recently has prompted the Cousin to try to find out more...as he remembers his Visit during the war....It would have been quite an effort to get to their home at that time ..so THe Cousin feels for George to have given up his leave ... he must have a family connection...especially since his Father kept the photo all this time.. So far we havent been able to find a connection.... the Family surname is BRIANT.....................The Cousin feels George is his Fathers Son from the time he spent in England in WW1. and therefore his half Brother.............Also some of the remarks made by his Mother when he asked about his Fathers Army Service. gave him the impression that there may be another child in England.... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Jan No virus found in this outgoing message.
