    3. Hi John, You could try searching the website - Scotland's People - and, if no luck, try contacting them direct to ask if they can help - http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/content/help/index.aspx?r=551 I couldn't find anything at Scottish Archives for the placename, so its probably a transcription error. The IGI has baptisms for Colin McKENZIE in 1817 at Barvas, Stornaway, Polmont and Kilmorack. 1818 has the name in Barony, Nairn, Knockbain and Urray. Perhaps a bit of local knowledge from the mailing list for Scotland might be a good place to start - http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/SCT/SCOTLAND.html Cheers Trish Nowra NSW > Good day, > I am fairly new at this, and was lucky enough to recently find who I > believe to be my G-G-Grandfather, Colin McKenzie, born 1817 in Jemernep, > Scotland. > John McKenzie (Panagos) > Email: info@oldeworld.com > Interests: McKenzie, Rowley in the UK and USA

This information was obtained directly from the 1861 England Census, and I'd like to get some confirming documentation about Colin McKenzie, but if Jemernep doesn't exist...then what? Could it possibly just "no longer exist", but did back in the early 1800s? Could it be named something else now? Where could I investigate this possibility? 1. [KENT-ENG] WEST family of RECULVER
    2. DEREK PINCKARD
    3. Hi,  I am new to this list so am posting my interest. My maternal grandfather's name was WEST and his family came from Reculver in Kent. I have just started researching this side of my family and have them back to a Thomas West born about 1802 who married Alexandra Campbell (Leeds) allegedly an orphan from Dalkeith, Scotland bought up by the Leeds family. I am hoping to go to Canterbury soon to check the Parish registers but if anyone has any Wests from Reculver in their family tree I look forward to hearing from you.  A family story handed down the generations was that of four brothers who were fishermen drowned together in a terrible accident. I have not found anything to give substance to the story, all my Wests were Ag. Labs.  I am thinking they moved to Reculver from somewhere else around 1800 as all of them in the censuses seem to be just from two families.     thankyou               Derek

Sent: Saturday, April 03, 2010 11:02 AM Subject: LAMBKIN AND VARIENTS Goodmorning, I'm, hoping that someone may be able to shed some light on these details I found in the PR's of St. Andrew's Church in Jevington, Sussex- Burial of Ambrose Lambkin age 44, occupation Tailor 31 July 1882, husband of Ann, this couple had 4 children, Mary c. 1814, Hawkhurst. John c. 1817 Jevington, James c Sept 1818, buried Oct. 1818 Jevington and William c. 1820 Jevington. I believe that this is the marriage of Ambrose and Ann- Hawkhurst, 28 Sept. 1813 Ambrose Lamkin, OTP and Ann Comins of Lamberhurst, by banns wit. Robert Pitt and Susan Pitt. When their daughter Mary was c. it says they were of Hawkhurst and that Ambrose was a Tailor. Can anyone one help me with the parents of Ambrose or any of his line, his wife Ann went on to marry again in Jevington after his death. Crossing my fingers, regards, Brenda

    1. [KENT-ENG] DYASON, DYSON, DISON.
    2. michael Daniels
    3. HI Kent listers I am searching for any record for the above names in the general Whitstable areaof north east Kent. Rather concentrating on the first named DYASON which is traceable in that region back in the 1600s. Earlier, around the time of the start of Civil Registration, and undoubtedly before, they appear fairly widely dispersed across the east of the county, but later perhaps attracted to industries established in the Medway, south east London, shows growing numbers settled away from their original heartland. Hope someone record this name/s in their tree. Michael in Holland-on-Sea, Essex. UK

Were under a dozen girls so wasn't a large place . 3. Deal was a garrison town from at least the 18th century until the 1990s - with cavalry and infantry barracks as well as a Royal Navy shipyard, so there was no shortage of military establishments! You may have more luck if you search for Walmer (now a suburb to the south) than Deal, as the barracks were there. >From what I recall of researching a relation who had lived there, Middle Street was a rough as a badgers backside - a street where a performing dog once sued a pub landlord and won - though I have no idea now where I found that story. Unfortunately Deal was heavily shelled during WW2 and that, coupled with 1960s town planners, destroyed much of Middle Street, and the two ends where most of the older buildings still are have been very much gentrified. This has probably ensured their survival, but here's no real trace of the areas previous character. This may be a good thing! 1. [KENT-ENG] A new non-commercial website - www.familynotices.org
    2. Nigel Penton Tilbury
    3. Posted with the kind permission of the Listowner. I have just launched www.familynotices.org which is a totally non-commercial & privately-owned site and I hope to attract postings from the past as well as new social events. Following the death of a close family member, I was surprised at the charges levied by the local newspaper made for posting just a small obituary. It made me think through the whole 'death notices' thing and I created FamilyNotices.org - which is an on-line repository for all notices of Births, Deaths, Marriages, Engagements, Anniversaries and Missing Persons. This has the advantage of being world-wide, free and doesn't get thrown away! Please feel free to help yourself and post anything which is relevant and appropriate - and it doesn't have to be current. Details of 'Auntie Millie born in 1896' is just as relevant as a modern-day wedding notice. If you like it, please tell your friends .........& if you don't, just tell me! Cheers for now, Nigel ______________________________________________ FamilyNotices.org - the free online repository for all notices of Births, Deaths, Marriages, Engagements, Anniversaries and Missing Persons Doing it for free - unlike the newspapers !
