    1. [KENT-ENG] Death of Samuel BLOOMFIELD ( 1930 )
    2. >From The Sydney Morning Herald ( NSW:1842-1954) Monday 25 August 1930 Page 15. Mr. Samuel BLOOMFIELD, reputed to have been the oldest solicitor practising in Sydney, died on Friday at the age of 86 years. He had been in active practise until a few months ago, when he entered the Lidcombe Hospital. His death occurred in that institution. Mr. BLOOMFIELD came to Australia from Hadlow, England, about 36 years ago. He took up practise here, and for many years was well known at the Central Police Court, where he worked almost exclusively. The funeral, which was conducted with Masonic rites, took place at Rookwood on Saturday.

    3. Hi List Many thanks to all those who pointed out that Crowborough is in East Sussex not Kent and who have also given me some useful tips to help trace Forrest Lee. I have passed through the town several times over the years without realising it was south of the Kent Border! It looks like my next visit will be with a camera. Many thanks again for all your help Peter Jones Studying Trus(s)ler and similar spellings world wide.

    3. It's still there. go to www.old-maps-co.uk and enter forest lea, crowborough. You'll get a strip named One address available. Click on it and you'll get the address. click on the address and you'll get the maps. Map 6 is the best most recent one (1911). Forest Lea is just south of Cook's Corner. So the next time you get to Crowborough, cruise the London road looking for Cook's Corner and Forest Lea on a bend in the road. 3. Hi List During WW2 staff from an Association that I belong to were moved out of London to a location in Kent for safety reasons. As the Association's Historian I would very much like to add a photograph of this place to add to the album of places we have used as our Registered Offices over the Years. Does anyone know where "Forest Lee" in Crowborough, Kent is/was in 1941? It could have been a Private House or an Office Block! TIA Peter Jones Otherwise Studying the surname "Trus(s)ler" on a world wide basis.

    3. I need your help folks. I cannot find William T. SKEY in the 1871 Census although I have found the rest of his family. His wife Eliza Emma is shown as a Ships Corporals Wife (?) and is living in Larkhill Court, St. Margarets Bank, Rochester, Kent. On Ancestry she is shown as STREY but on FindmyPast as SKEY. I believe I have found William in 1861 serving on the St. Jean D'Acre (Might it actually be St. Joan of Arc do you think???) anchored in Cadiz Bay. How might I find him on board his ship perhaps in 1871? Many thanks for any help

    3. Hi Everyone, I have been reading your comments on Familysearch.I agree, it does have to be taken with caution. But interestingly I have just found on there some information that is very specific,  has dates of births, marriages and death on several family members that I am certain are connected to me. There is no contact information. Two of the dates are a year out and one a guess. But there is enough info here to interest me. They are listed below. Katherine BROOKS. born 29 Jul 1885 (1886) Rochester Hotel, London. Mother Tamselia Ann COPE  (Thomasina Ann Cope/Brooks) Husband.  Arthur Saunders WARBY. Marriage 24 Dec 1913 (I have not checked this date so far) Did not know about him as I had so much trouble with Katherines birth. The census I had said differnt places. Children. Florence Ellen Caroline WARBY. b. 17 May 1915, Greenwich. (June 1914) Arthur Charles. b. 18 Mar 1916.Greenwich. Also father of Arthur Saunders WARBY, William Saunders WARBY. Someone has spent some time gathering information here. Or is this usual. If anyone knows anything about this family I would be pleased to hear from you. Regards, Sylvia.

    1. Re: [KENT-ENG] Use IGI with great care
    2. John Packham
    3. When I first got to use the IGI in the days when it was just on microfilm and before the internet, I was given some very good advice by someone at the SoG (Society of Genealogists in London). It is that the IGI and any other similar indexes (handwritten, microfilmed, on-line or wherever) must only be used as a guide to find the real records which must be the base of our research into our past. Until you see the actual or facsimile copy of a document recording an event you don't have any proof. Indexes are a great guide to finding the real documents but never use them as your base research. These indexes have been compiled by one or more people who presumably have seen the original documents wherever they may be. Use the information given to find those records yourself. Until you find the originals you cannot confirm the data you add to your tree. Happy hunting everyone John

Jeanne, If you are not already aware of this online resource it is well worth loggin on and checking it out and there is a picture of a "Mr Clementson , Miller" you can also find photos about the Brenchley mills online there too. Goto http://www.millarchive.com It may also be worth checking out http://library.kent.ac.uk/library/special/html/mills as they do have online resources. I have previously asked them to provide a copy of Mill related information that they have that is not online too as I have millers in my family and the service I received was very well priced and easy to arrange. 1. [KENT-ENG] Online Lesson About Apprentices?
    2. EVELYN WALLACE
    3. In a small market town in Suffolk, I learned that my ancestress's brothers were nearly all apprentices, 1851 census, and that before her father became a beerseller, he himself had been a journeyman shoemaker. I understand that outside of the large cities that some of these apprenticeship records MAY be found in county record offices. Has anyone had experience with smaller counties' holdings of such records? Interesting enough, as more persons came to the London area for a livelihood, I found most of these brothers in later censuses in the suburbs of London with other occupations, but probably still tied some kind of apprenticeships.
