Thank you for the replies I have good information to continue my hunt. Gloria
I have a child baptised July 1839 called George PECKHAM in All Saints Church, Staplehurst, Kent. Does anyone know of any Birth Records available so I could order a Birth Certificate for him. Gloria
Could anyone tell me where I might find the records for the Workhouses in Staplehurst in the year 1839-1841. Gloria
John.. I have found Stephen Richard Beecher birth Born Dec. Quarter 1875 Tonbridge Kent Sussex. Vol 2a Page 573..Now I dont know if this is the correct one..only ordering the birth cert. or citing the parish records will do that.. It would be a lot easier if you could give a bit more info on these 2 as there are a few to pick from..Also the name is spelt Beacher as well as Beecher. Anything prior to 1837 will most probably need parish records..someone may have them.. Where have you looked ? FreeBMD will have details of BMD registrations after 1837 http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl including this one Births Dec 1875 Beecher Stephen Richard Tunbridge 2a 573 Ancestry.com has a few extracted Parish Records for BEECHERs in Kent The International Genealogical Index http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true seems to have plenty of BEECHERs in Kent, but beware - many are patron submissions which can be pure fiction. Censuses from 1841 on (available from Ancestry.com or Findmypast.com) have BEECHERs all over Kent The Beta FamilySearch http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start has BEECHERs in Kent Anne South Australia John McCarthy wrote: > Hello List, > I am a new member to this list and hope that by > joining you all I can increase my meagre knowledge of the Beecher > name in the above centuries around Tunbridge Wells& Tonbridge. Hi Robyn, The Online Parish Clerk for Kent has a bit of info on Ramsgate - http://www.kent-opc.org/parishlist.html The LDS has the parish registers for some churches in Ramsgate, you can order in films locally - http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=topicdetails&subject=411973&subject_disp=England%2C+Kent%2C+Ramsgate+%2D+Church+records&columns=*,0,0 A few records online - http://www.genealogylinks.net/uk/england/kent/parish-registers.htm http://www.sartorelli.gen.nz/tree/kentbaptisms/index.html Cheers Trish Nowra NSW > I have a family that were married in Eastry in 1884, then had their 11 > children in Walmer, Deal and Ramsgate, before emigrating to Canada in > 1912. > As 8 of them were born in Ramsgate 1889 - 1905, which Church of England > would I be looking at? > Cheers, Robyn of Oz.
I am always interested in the surname SKEY, as two brothers came to NZ about 1860, Henry and William, their father died , mother not sure off, have had different stories! But they did well here in NZ. William became the Colonial Government Analyst for 37 years. Buried at Clareville Cemetery. We strongly believe the family were in London, but have tracked down many of this surname even to Gloucestershire. Both brothers did some prospecting for gold, Henry stayed in South Island, William eventually came to North Island. This Skey family have the middle name of Fortesecue. Some time back, someone did contact me from Italy, being descended from Henry's line. William married into the Francis family here at Clareville. Wonder if there is any connection to the family of Skey mentioned on this list today? Adele Pentony-Graham Carterton District Early Settlers Researcher Carterton Cemetery Clareville Taphophile Group
Hi to all Kent listers from Australia, I have a family that were married in Eastry in 1884, then had their 11 children in Walmer, Deal and Ramsgate, before emigrating to Canada in 1912. I have birth years for all the children from FreeBMD, but I would ideally like their actual christening dates, assuming they were all christened! They all declared themselves as C of E when they married in Canada. I cannot buy their birth certs. As 8 of them were born in Ramsgate 1889 - 1905, which Church of England would I be looking at? Any help appreciated. Cheers, Robyn of Oz.
Hi Robyn, Sorry I can't be of help - but a thought. ALWAYS important to enter the surnames of Interest - In Capital Letters on the subject Line. Names attract attention - perhaps others are researching the same names - and may have the information you are seeking. Some people may not bother to read - a message without a surname. Have you searched the IGI online. found the following.
