Anyone that has an interest in Deal, Deal area shipwrecks and/or the Finnis family from Deal, please reply to Malcolm McCarthy for further details via the link here http://kent-opc.org/Parishes/News/DealFinnisproject.html Assistance is required to complete an edit of a Finnis Family logbook covering the period circa 1830 to 1850s. What is required is to, among other things, check the transcript for errors and provide some background research material be it information about wrecks mentioned, people who drowned, or photographs of wrecks and so on. Yours sincerely, Susan D. Young County Administrator, Kent OPC administrator@kent-opc.org www.kent-opc.org

Don't forget Greenwich RD covers a larger area than just Greenwich itself. Ancestry has the London PRs, albeit not complete, and you can search for free and identify any possibles. That would narrow the options for anyone to check on if you don't have a sub to their databases yourself. A death is registered where it happened which may or may not be where the deceased was buried or had lived. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Greinton and Clutton, SOM Asst OPC for Ashcott and Shapwick, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk

I have a death of a William MARCHANT in the December Quarter of 1880 in the Registration District of Greenwich. I would appreciate a lookup from anyone having parish records within that district. William represents one of those walls that might be about to fall. Best wishes, Don Marchant Centreville, Alabama USA
Here is also the list of the convicts on the First Fleet 1788:- http://members.iinet.net.au/~perthdps/convicts/1stfleet.html and the convicts on the Second Fleet 1790:- http://members.tip.net.au/~pdownes/dps/2ndflt.htm The description of the arrival of the "Neptune" and the convicts he carried is horrific, this article was written by a journalise on the Sydney Cove Conricle, who witnessed the arrival of the "Neptune". http://members.pcug.org.au/~pdownes/dps/2ndflt.htm The convict ship "Katherine Stewart Forbes" in 1830. A distant cousin in NZ has asked me to help transcribe this will. It is difficult as photocopy from TNA very poor. Is there anyone to whom I could forward my transcription for correction please? Will is short, 1 1/4 pages. Thanks, Carol
This could be a useful site for listers. It has names of convicts sent to Australia in 1791. The place of sentence, & length of sentence, is included. Hope it helps some of you. Mick & Norma http://members.tip.net.au/~pdownes/dps/3rdflt.txt

In all the censuses, he is shown as unmarried and she as married - in 1861, (James Wall) she's shown as wife but in all the others, (1851 New Wall, 1871 Turner Wall, 1881 Radley Terrace, Middle Wall) she's either servant, housekeeper or lodger, in that order. I'd be getting Herbert's birth certificate to see who she says his father is. I cannot find a Goulden/Court marriage, nor a marriage at the right time of Henry Goulden to Ann anyone Births Jun 1844 Goulden Herbert Thomas Blean 5 40 or his marriage certificate to see who *he* says his father was Marriages Mar 1867 GOULDEN Herbert Thomas Blean 2a 873 Deaths Mar 1871 Goulden Herbert Thomas 27 Blean 2a 475 Anne South Australia Ian Robinson wrote: > Dear Listers, > >> From around the 1840's onwards a James Edward Mitchell WILLIAMS lived in Blean near Whitstable in >> somewhere called James Mall/James Hall and his occupation was General Surgeon and Apothecary. Hello Ian, I don't have access to census records so it would be very helpful to me, and others in the same position, if you could include full particulars in your emails when requesting help - its impossible to identify who Ann, Henry and Herbert GOULDEN are without knowing their date/place of birth etc. By the 1881 census none of the GOULDEN's are still with James WILLIAMS. It is very common to find in the census records a listing for a housekeeper having (illegitimate) children to the head of the household - perhaps he has an earlier marriage that you haven't found yet and the wife is still living? If you have the date and place of birth for the children you should be able to find their baptisms to see if a father's name is mentioned. In 1855, James Edward Mitchell WILLIAMS filed for bankruptcy - http://www.edinburgh-gazette.co.uk/issues/6510/pages/886/page.pdf In 1863, his name appears on a lease at the Canterbury Cathedral Archives (along with George and Henry HOLDEN, I wonder if these are actuallyh GOULDEN?) http://www.kentarchives.org.uk/DServeCCA/dserve.exe?&dsqIni=Dserve.ini&dsqApp=ArchivePub&dsqDb=Catalog&dsqCmd=CanterburyShow.tcl&dsqSearch=(RefNo=='CCA-U467/K/34/4/8/32') You may find some help in tracing James' career through this link - http://user.itl.net/~glen/doctors.html Cheers Trish Nowra NSW >>From around the 1840's onwards a James Edward Mitchell WILLIAMS lived in >>Blean near Whitstable in somewhere called James Mall/James Hall and his >>occupation was General Surgeon and Apothecary.
