    3. Dear Listers, I recently posted a query on this list and was very grateful for the excellent response and help I received from Helen and Jan. It seems Alan was in the Indian Mountain Army and died there in 1930, Gladys seems to have stayed on working as a nurse and possibly retiring to England where she died at a good age in 1978. I'm hoping that her death certificate will provide more clues. Many many thanks for the help received. Mary

    3. You may find that the Milsteds were from Tenterden area . While researching Couchmans Cushmans, var. I found quite a few there , working back from Thomas Couchman who married Eliz. 3. Hi Ray, I think you need to be a wee bit more specific. Ancestry has a lot of London records of Baptisms, marriages and deaths for London & surrounds going up on the website all the time. St Alfeges Church Greenwich springs to mind and the Greenwich records can be accessed in many places including ordering the film at the LDS family history rooms. BUT that being said, my father always said be was (born Greenwich), but he and most of his siblings were baptised St Pauls Deptford which is within cooee. More information may elicit more help. Cheers Pam from Adelaide Australia > Hi List I have a post card of a 24 hour clock set in a wall, I think it > was > in Greenwich? does anyone know anything about this clock? where was it? > Also where would I need to go to find the records of my Grandmother's > family > (Bush) who were all from the Greenwich area? > regards > Ray (Isle of Wight)

    2. Ted & Magi
    3. Hi guys , thanks for the follow ups but I'm sure now that it is All Saints. St Nicholas is the church at Boughton Malherbe. The reason for all this is that I am trying to make up a list of parishes within a certain area with the name of the church and the Kent FHS Cd of parish registers. Isn't it a pity that adjoining parishes are on different CDs. My family come from a few miles around Ashford, but I need about 10 different cds to cover all the parishes involved. Anyway, enough of my whingeing, I think I have the answer I need and thank you for the help. Ted Australia

    3. Hi Dennis, Yes you are right. When I went into the city ark records to see if Milton was there (I was sure it was), I also did a search for sittingbourne and it came up Sittingbourne Hoo St Werburgh and I read it wrong. My appologies if I misled anyone. It is very confusing for us ex-pats. Grin !!! I think if his family are in the general area it might be worth a hoot around there. Cheers Pam > Pam, Just to clear things up and prevent researchers who are not in the > know from getting thing the wrong way round regarding Hoo and Milton in > relation to Sittingbourne. > > There are three Miltons on Kent. 3. Could SKS clarify the name of the church at Boughton Aluph. An image search through Google for "Boughton Aluph Kent Church" produces "All Saints" and "St Nicholas" . Are there two churches or has someone got the dedication wrong. Ted

    3. Dear Pauline, Just to thank you so much for responding. I am not sure what is happening with my email because I never got your message on the Kent list either!!!! I must thank John Farrow for letting me know that a reply had come through and I found it in the archives, so once again thank you so much. Yes I had got the date of birth wrong - a simple but very stupid typo. I don't think my fingers were in synch with my brain (what's left of it!). This ties in with Jeremiah Milsted who was appointed a Constable in Plumstead in 1782 so now I can search for his parentage. I am very grateful to you for taking the time and trouble to reply. It has helped me a lot. Kind regards, Helen Carlisle

    3. Ted, What era are you interested in. If you give me a date, I can look back in my early 20th century Crockfords to see which of the churches was there and when they were founded, if this helps Anne On 16 Jul 2010, at 07:20, Ted & Magi wrote: > Could SKS clarify the name of the church at Boughton Aluph. 3. Hi Dennis, Thank you for explaining Hoo/Milton/Milton/Milton/Sittingbourne/Medway to us foreigners. Clear as mud. No wonder I've been searching for the family for sixteen years without success - they could be anywhere! For a small county, it sure sounds complicated.
