    3. Hi Scott If you look at parish records of Chelsfield in Kent the Kendle / Kendell family have been there since before 1590 and spread out to neighbouring parishes. My great great uncle married a daughter of a George Kendle in South Australia who came from that area of Kent, England. This Kendle family are all in the state of Western Australia now. The Western Australian births deaths and marriages are on line too. 3. Don't know if it's any help, Scott, but my husband is descended from John Kendall, born 1814 (if I remember correctly !!) in Droitwich, Worcestershire. He was transported to Australia when he was 21 & by the 1860s, the spelling of Kendall had changed to Kendell (in Australia, that is.) My husband's father was the great great grandson of John & he came to the UK in 1954. He married, had 4 children, divorced, remarried & died in 2000. Pat.xxx :o)) A Maid of Kent http://peajaykayspatch.blogspot.com/ I hope so. I need to find a way to get more English Kendall families involved. Do you have any ideas? 1. [KENT-ENG] William OXLEY, Rolvenden
    2. David & Sandra Bales
    3. William OXLEY was christened in Rolvenden on Feb 8th 1804, arrived in Australia in 1839 with his wife Eliza nee SANTER and died as the result of injuries received while serving as a policeman in Mudgee NSW on May 19 1853 On September 29, 2012 Police Remembrance Day in Mudgee will quite possibly involve a graveside service at William's grave as well as a church service in Mudgee at which William's contribution to policing will be remembered along with the contributions of all police. The police officer co-ordinating this would love to have a photo or drawing of William as would many Australian descendants, my wife included. Its early days for photography but hopefully one might exist in Kent amongst family connections. William and his wife wrote a series of letters during their voyage to Australia and just after they arrived. These were posted home to William's brother James OXLEY, the schoolmaster in Rolvenden. The letters were retained by family in Kent until a member of the PARKER branch of the OXLEY tree recognised their significance and donated a copy to the NSW State Library in 2004. James OXLEY married Mercy RICHARDSON and their daughterAnn born about 1843 married William Francis PARKER so I assume the donor of the letters was part of that family. If anyone is able to assist in any way it would be really appreciated. David Central Coast NSW

    3. I think we Duggers have done about 35 now through FTDNA and what it takes is persistence, nagging and often times having to volunteer to pay for the test yourself. The other way is to start a DNA fund for the project and ask everyone to donate to it for those who can't afford the test. If you don't already know several British Kendalls, you can try asking on the GENUKI sites. My Valantines had 6 different families participating in DNA tests. The clincher is that 5 out of 6 were close matches so that got us all inspired from here to UK to Australia. The 6th one connected to a well documented paper trail to Lancashire with a lot of proven material. Sadly, it didn't match the other 5 or we would have ended up gentrified and with a lot less research to do.
