For any Foads and Foats now in New Zealand, researching their roots in Kent, England : If you are a male FOAD or FOAT and will be attending the New Zealand Family History Fair in Auckland, 2-4 August, please stop by the ISOGG booth (International Society of Genetic Genealogy). 3. I checked the baptism entries for Ickham over the relevant period on familysearch, and on findmypast using their images from the Canterbury Cathedral Archives. The familysearch entries are wrong by 1 year for baptisms between Jan 1 and Mar 25. Allowing for this, the two match, except for 2 extra entries on familysearch which are only indexed on findmypast. These are probably the first two following the Aug 15 1779 baptism of Mary AYRES. The images on findmypast have been chopped below the 15 Aug 1779 baptism. Henry's baptism on 13 Feb 1780 starts a new page in the register. This would leave an estimated 3-4 missing baptisms between 10 Oct 1779 and 13 Feb 1780. Has anyone seen these? I have listed the baptisms below. 3. Graham, I'm sure that what Sue says is true but I assume you used FamilySearch which does not have the same gap and come up with your list of 7 children every couple of years apart from the first two which are less than 6m apart. As both the burial record and the 1861 census put his birth c1779 which corresponds with Henry's baptism I think it would be worth checking the original PR to if either it has been transcribed wrongly or perhaps "Henry" was "Henry Samuel" or even they were twins. Peter Hi Graham Looking at the Ickham PRs on findmypast it looks as though there are some gaps - 15 Aug 1777 is followed by 13 Feb 1780! I don't know if you can get a look at the original PRs Sue I am looking for the baptism of Samuel PETLEY who died at Staple on 11 Oct 1864 aged 85. In the 1851 and 1861 censuses he was living in Ash and gave his birthplace as Ickham. The only PETLEYs at Ickham were Henry PETLEY and Sarah HOLDEN who had 7 other children baptised at Ickham between 1775 and 1785. Samuel is the only one whose baptism I have not been able to find. -Graham Petley

Hallo Thank you. That's her all right. I thought it was another case of me not seeing the entry but it wasn't. That page doesn't come up in the index, even using the address. I've now been able to provisionally take her maternal grandfather's family back to 1598. Her father's only goes back to his parents. It's wonderful what a helpful list, a dog and an action film can do. Thank you again -- Connie http://oursalmons.wordpress.com/

If you could send one to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, I'm sure they would appreciate it very much, and it would be available to many, many researchers. Have found the marriage entry and therefore the name of Samuels father.
