This is my first post to the KENT mailing list. I have made notes from all of my research trips on most of the KENT's that I could find, just in case my lines should lead to one of them. I will post these tidbits as I can so please be patient. I have been researching in Washington Co., Abingdon & Bristol VA; Washington Co, Sullivan Co., Carter Co and surrounding areas in TN. Well here goes my lineage: My Grandfather: Lewis Anderson KENT b. July 17, 1906, Washington Co., TN. d. Oct. 11, 1988, Washington Co., Bristol, VA married : Sept 13, 1927 Bristol, TN. Nina (long i ) Causby Tolbert b. Jan. 9, 1910 (Washington Co. VA; my aunts & uncles say the Nordike area of Washington Co., but I haven't found her on the census record yet. Mostly searching KENT) d. Dec. 14, 1992. Children: Robert Berry KENT (deceased), Reva Rae KENT, Betty Wayne KENT, Paul Franklin KENT (my father), Gene Legard KENT, Joyce Ann KENT, Mary Lou KENT, Debra Louise KENT, James Edward KENT. GGfather: Louis A. KENT b. June 17, 1854 (per tombstone) (June 1858 per 1900 Carter Co, TN Census records) probably Washington Co., TN d. April 1, 1921 NOTE: He has tombstones in two cemeteries. I believe his bone(s) was moved at some point. married: Apr. 17, 1893 Washington Co., VA, Lucy Frances Poor b. Sept. 1869 (per 1900 Carter Co., TN census) (tombstone has 1872; also her tombstone is Mrs. L.A. Kent) Washington Co., VA, d. 1942. Children: James Powell KENT, William Edward KENT, Nellie Frances KENT, Hattie Clark KENT, Mary Elizabeth KENT, Lewis Anderson KENT (my grandfather) GGGfather: James KENT b. 1816 in NC., d. Dec. 13, 1895 Carter Co. TN. Married: Sarah A. Byerly b. 6-16-1819, TN,(maybe Jan. 16, 1819) d. 8-17-1902 buried in Carter Co., TN.
