Abigail KEMP was born 27 Mar 1665 in Billerica, Mass, the daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Foster) Kemp. She married, as his second wife, James BLOOD of Watertown, on 20 Dec 1686 in Watertown, Mass. James was killed during a major Indian attack on Groton, Mass, on 13 Sep 1692. The family of Abigail Kemp is not found in Groton after this episode, but she is found in Andover in 1695, and her brother, Samuel, is found in Charlestown. In 1695, Abigail had an illegitimate child, possibly fathered by one of the Shattuck men from Groton. She was publicly whipped for her deed, and the family had to post a bond of 50 pounds to the town of Andover so that the town would not have to provide for the child. Abigail is "lost" after this episode, but it is believed she moved from the area and possibly remarried. Bob Young, Secretary Kemp Family Association [email protected]
