Hi: Wonder if someone out there knows the REAL story about which Patience Kemp really married Samuel Saybury (if at all)on 11/09/1660 in Weymouth, Mass. This is primarily Plymouth Colony genealogy. I have seen some web pages, etc showing the Patience Kemp who married Sam Saybury was a child from William Kemp and Elizabeth Partridge. But, that doesn't seem to work as Elizabeth Partridge was actually married to Thomas Thatcher at the time. (Unless maybe Elizabeth married a Kemp before Thatcher and was widowed??) I have seen one web page that showed that Thomas Thatcher and Elizabeth Partridge had a daughter Patience in early late 1630's, early 1640's, and that daughter had a daughter who married William Kemp who married ole Sam Seabury. But, that doesn't work as she couldn't have been older than, say, eight years old at the oldest. I think I've seen a few other variations on this theme twisted around different directions and none make any sense. Who knows who the Patience Kemp really is that married Sam Seabury, or is the marriage record that they married a complete sham and some other lady had their seven children?? I am a descendant of this couple and would like for the real parents to please stand up! PS. I've also seen quite a few times where Patience (Thatcher) Kemp, showing as a daughter of Elizabeth (Partridge) Thatcher, is showing with the date of death of Patience (Kemp) Seabury, who died on 06/02/1664. At first blush, that would suggest that Patience was widowed and married ole George, and that Kemp was really her married name. Could that be what happened? Thanks for your support!
