I have a friend, B. J. Grissom who has been researching the Kemp Family since 1940. She said Capt. Jonathan did live in Burke Co. NC. He did fight the Revolution under Alexander Osborn. He fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill NC (not another state). She said there are a lot of Kemps in MD and NC. She does not think that Capt. Jonathan (her ancestor) is the son of William. Ina Morris
