Today is the day set aside to remember those gallant men and women who served in the many wars which were fought to maintain our liberty. I invite each of you to post a short note to honor a Kemp ancestor who served his/her country. I would like to recognize those Kemp's from the New England branch who served and died for their country. In particular, honor goes to the family of John Kemp of Pepperell, Mass, who lost 4 sons in a 2 year period.... Jabez Kemp, son of John and Sarah (Holden) Kemp, died 27 Jun 1756 while in the Army during the French & Indian Wars Stephen Kemp, son of John and Sarah (Holden) Kemp, died 14 Oct 1758 while in the Army during the French & Indian Wars Oliver Kemp, son of John and Sarah (Holden) Kemp, died May 1756 while in the Army during the French & Indian Wars John Kemp, son of John and Sarah (Holden) Kemp, died Jan 1756 while in the Army during the French & Indian Wars Also, Phineas Kemp, son of Josiah and Rachel (Davis) Kemp, who died 21 Jun 1757 in the Battle of Fort Ticonderoga David Kemp, son of David and Hannah (Sawtell) Kemp, who was captured by the British at the Battle of Bunker Hill on 19 Jun 1775, and died in a prisoner of war camp on 10 Sep 1775.
