It might list the names of the children they still had by that time. They might have been poor and unable to care for that many children. The older children might remember more of what was going on at that time. I did find a listing for Thomas S Kemp (the one from GA) in the WWII enlistment database. He enlisted as an aviation cadet in Jan 1942 which meant he went to flying school. One of my thoughts about the trips is that he may have stayed in the military and was transferred from station to station. I was in the Air Force and every 2-4 years, I was sent to another base. The military in the 40s-60s was not as well paid as it is now. Many of the young enlisted families I knew, in the 70s & 80s, were on food stamps. There is still an Air Force base near Phoenix.
