My cousin (Jason Davis/Saint Helena Parish) told me that the original site of Jonathan Kemp's Plantation (which supposedly has a grave site on it) is just outside of Greensburg. Some of the land where the plantation and grave site is located was willed to the negro slaves of Capt. Jonathan Kemp. And the colored people who now own the property today claim that they are the living descendants of the slaves. I haven't talked to Mrs. Inez Tate of Greensburg to verify all of this but I remember my Great Grandmother Ora Kemp telling me the same story. It's really interesting. My cousin is suppose to take me on a field trip to the site soon. I'm going to take some pictures and maybe even tape record some interviews with the colored family that reside there. Davis is my maiden name, I'm curious about your cousin Jason Davis. who are his Davis people is he also related through the Kemps?
