I am researching Henry B. Kemp & family who emmigrated from Wake Co NC to Smith Co., TN in the early 1800s and would like to push the family back, i.e., identify antecedents, as well as determine some of the NC descendants. I would be very pleased to share what I have with you or with others of a similar interest, but it is simply too voluminous to post here. Sadly, my records do not seem to mesh with your present inquiry, but I am not certain about that. The patriarch of the Smith Co., TN, Kemps is Henry B. Kemp: Henry B. Kemp (1731/1736/1743 - February 15, 1819<) [1790 USC/WNC] married Dinah (? - ?). He was born in Queen Annes Co., MD (?) / Orange Co., NC (?), and migrated with his father Richard to Johnston Co., NC. After Wake County was created from Johnston, Cumberland and Orange Counties, Henry, about 1804 - 1806, migrated from Wake Co., NC, to Wilson Co., TN, and then later to the Defeated Creek area of Smith Co., TN. Some sources have the emmigration beginning from Granville Co., NC, which was just north of Wake Co., NC. He died in Smith Co., TN. The extent of his issue is not definitively known. Richard Kemp (~1715 - ~1800) [1790 USC/WNC] married ~1735 is mentioned in the Johnston Co., NC, deed books as father of Henry Kemp and Henry's wife being Dinah. I look forward to corresponding to all interested Kemp researchers. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
