The WWI shows that they would have been married around 1914-1915, based on the ages on the children in the 1920 census and what he attests to in the record. It also lists a different birth place from the 1920 census and the WWII draft card but has the same birth date of 13 Jan 1891. I'm pretty sure that this is your guy. Perhaps the TN location is across the state line from the NC location. Or the TN location is where his mother was from. You can contact me if you want jpeg copies of the actual records.
