    1. [KEMP] Kemp history of the Town of Watervliet (Colonie) N.Y.

    3. Good Afternoon: My name is Kevin Franklin and I am the Historian for the Town of Colonie, N.Y. www.colonie.org/historian <http://www.colonie.org/historian> and I have been investigating the Kemp (Camp) family of Colonie. I have attached a copy of a Map of certain lands of Steven VanRensselaer surveyed into lots (1799) for your use, and to help me! The area includes what is now much of Newtonville, West Albany, and Loudonville areas. Lots 40 & 47 are seen as being leased by Michael Camp in an area about where present day Albany Shaker and Osborne Roads are in Loudonville. One parcel of land belonging to Michael Kemp (name changed from "Camp") was sold to the Society of Shakers in the 1840's consisting of about 80 acres of land total. There is a Michael Kemp and Mary Ann (wife) buried in the Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands, N.Y. Michael died on 2/5/1904 and his wife on 1/30/1914. I am not a Genealogist, but: I am in the process of using the internet in hope of obtaining as much information as possible of many of the early families of Colonie (Watervliet-Rensselaerswyck, etc.) and any information you could provide me with respect to the Kemp (Camp) families would be deeply appreciated. I am seeking copies of photos, portraits, farm pictures, wills, etc. I look forward to your replies. Thanks Kevin Franklin, Historian Town of Colonie, N.Y. 518-782-2593
