Hello, You are speaking of Portland in Australia right? I am searching for my Kemp line in the Pacific Northwest in North America and there is a Portland or here. I have found that there was a fair bit of immigration in the mid 1800s from Australia and New Zealand to San Francisco, Seattle U.S and Victoria - New Westminster BC Canada - that gold rush! I am kind of leaning in that direction with my kemp side - Charles Kemp and Jeannie Monroe - only know of one daughter - b. 1869 in British Columbia - her granddaughter is named Genise which is a name that orginally originated in Australia. However the name could have come from a friend who was from Australia as well, but it is a clue none the less.
