FYI: If you want to find every KEMP in the 1870 census you can search the new CD indexes. You can get them by state ($29.95 to $39.95 depending on the state) or get the entire US set (25 CD's on sale for $449.25...reg. $748.75). These are great indexes. You can search by surname alone or include modifiers: place of birth, ethnicity, state, county or town. You can even search on KEMP as a first name. Instantly the answers come back.
