I'm not sure if this is helpful, But Frances Marion was an infamous leader in the Rev. War near Charleston. He was nicknamed the Swamp Fox, and was known for leading his very loyal men through the swamps of the Charleston area rivers to avoid the British troops. This might be a clue to where your Kemp came from?
