Hello, I would like to find out more information on my Kemp family. Did families have second christian names in the 1850's? This is the only one that I have found and I guess I may never know why? William married with the Kemp Coom surname in 1850 and by 1856 when another child was born he was listed as only Kempe. I had a researcher help me to find this information. See the marriage listing below: 27 July 1850, the parish church, StAustell, Cornwall William Kemp Coom Eliza Avery Full Full Bachelor Spinster Miner - StAustell StAustell Richard Kemp Richard Avery Miner Miner Banns Joseph Tamblyn, Samuel Treverton William's surname is Coom, with Kemp being a second Christian name. But look at his father; he is identified as Richard Kemp rather than Richard Coom...... This family had Mary Jane, b.1852, William, b.1854/1855, and Alfred James, b.1856, all in Kinver's Row and Holmbush, St. Austell, Cornwall. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this situation? I haven't been able to go any further back with this...... Any advice?? Thanks in advance, Bill Kemp
