Kemp, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at Virginia Gay Annex in Vinton. Services will be at the First Baptist church in Vinton. The Rev. Walt Nickel will officiate. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. There will be no visitation. Mrs. Kemp was born on July 28, 1914, at Grandview, the daughter of Ralph and Lydia Katherine Dietrich Zimmerman. She married Felix Rex Kemp on June 11, 1937, at the First Baptist Church in Muscatine.She graduated from Grandview High School. After completing her education she worked at the Muscatine Journal and worked at the Missions in Chicago. They moved to the community of Vinton in 1945 where her husband became the minister at the EUB Church in Vinton. She enjoyed her flowers and the company of her cats. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.Survivors include her four sons, Jerry Kemp and his wife, Virginia, of Binghamton, N. Y., Larry Kemp and his wife, Kathleen of Vinton, Tom Kemp and his wife, Shirle! y, of Marion, and Tim Kemp of Vinton; two daughters, Janice Ericson and her husband, Ed, of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Kathy Stockdale and her husband, Raymond, of Iowa Falls; a sister Freda Hoag of Muscatine; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rex; and two sisters, Mildred and Nona. ===================== Source Muscatine Iowa Journal ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Keith Edwin Kemp, 74, of Anchorage, formerly of Muscatine, died April 4, 2003, at Providence Alaska Medical Center, Anchorage. Memorial services are at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 8100 Arctic Blvd., Anchorage. A Celebration of Life will be held noon-4 p.m. at 12821 Plymouth Circle. Burial of the cremains will be at the National Cemetery, Fort Richardson, Alaska. Memorials may be made to the Alaska Kidney Foundation, 3000 A St. No. 410, Anchorage, AK 99507. Condolences may be mailed to the Kemp residence at 1830 CindyLee Lane, Anchorage, AK 99507. Mr. Kemp was born on Dec. 2, 1928, in Bloomington, the son of Rex and Helen Schafer Kemp. He married Karol Hornung on March 6, 1954, in Burlington. He graduated from Muscatine High School, Muscatine, lettering in football. He was drafted in the U.S. Army February 1951 and received an Honorable Discharge from the Army Ready Reserve April 1957. He was employed in telecommunications. He started with Northwestern Bell in Iowa in 1950, leaving in 1968 to join RCA Service Company on the White Alice Project in Alaska. He stayed with ITT when they assumed operations in 1967. He then took a position with Anchorage Telephone Company in 1973, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, IBEW Union, American Legion, Loyal Order of the Moose and the Good Sam?s Club. He volunteered as coach, manager and umpire for Little League and as a YMCA basketball referee. His hobbies were family, computers, genealogy and making friends. He traveled extensively with his family throughout the United States. Survivors include his wife; a sister, Shirley Stange of Muscatine; a brother, Arlo Kemp of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Jackie Sink and her husband, John, and Dolores Stevenson of Burlington; two daughters, Michele Shockley and her husband, Jack, and Jenae Menia and her husband, Jim, all of Anchorage; three sons, Steven Kemp of Anchorage, Daniel Kemp of Dillingham, Alaska and Robert Kemp of Grand Junction, Colo.; two daughters-in-law, Taren Kemp of Wasilla, Alaska and Tammy Kemp of Grand Junction; and grandchildren, Jayson, Jonathan, Kurtis, Kayde, Danielle, Emily, Jessica, Mariah and Donovan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marilyn Danz Kemp; and a son, Edwin Kemp. ============================ Source Muscatine Iowa Journal LETTS, Iowa -- Gary 'Guff' Kemp, 57, Letts, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at Unity Hospital, Muscatine. The Rev. Darryl Erickson will officiate the services. Casket bearers are his nephews, Matt Estabrook, Alan Wilson, Tim Wagner, Denny Kemp, Eric Bramble and Andy Starkweather. Burial will be at the Letts Cemetery. After the burial, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Letts Community Hall, Letts. Mr. Kemp was born Nov. 30, 1947, in Grandview, the son of Everett LeRoy and Mary Frances Jackson Kemp. He married Cherolyn L. Rowe on June 3, 1967, in Letts. He remarried Cherolyn on Oct. 18, 1997, in Muscatine. He was employed at HON Company for 33 1/2 years, retiring in November 2002. He enjoyed horseshoe pitching and loved his dog, Ginny. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Shawn M. Kemp and his companion, Pam, of Grandview and Theodore 'Ted' E. Kemp of Letts; a daughter, Amber Freeman and husband, David, of Muscatine; seven grandchildren, Keith, Michael, Justin, Matt, Kory, Trevor and Kristen; a great-grandchild, Dominic; his mother, Mary Frances Kemp of Grandview; six sisters, Charlene Kemp of Columbus Junction, Vera Lou Harvey and husband, Dean, and Connie Sue Fogarty and husband, Gil, all of Surprise, Arizona, Fran Wilson and husband, Dick, of Sun City, Arizinoa, Shirley Bramble of Muscatine, and Debi Estabrook and husband, Ron, of Marshalltown; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Kemp, 97, of Geneseo, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at Good Samaritan Center in Geneseo. Services were today at the First United Methodist Church in Geneseo. Burial will be at North Cemetery in Geneseo. The Rev. Dr. Roger Perry will officiate. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Geneseo. Mr. Kemp was born July 8, 1903 near Grandview, the son of John P. and Mary Hahn Kemp. He married Ruth Elizabeth Hicks on Aug. 4, 1935, in Kingston, Mo. She died on Nov. 8, 1992. He graduated from Grandview High School in 1921 and from Iowa State University in 1934 with a bachelor's of science in mechanical engineering where he was a member of the engineering honor society, Tau Beta Pi and the scholastic honor society, Phi Kappa Phi. He worked for John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo as a tractor design engineer, retiring in 1968. He was a member of the Waterloo Technical Society, the First United Methodist Church, charter member of St. Timothy's Methodist Church in Cedar Falls when it was organized in 1952 where he served as Chairman of the Board, financial secretary, conference delegate and on the parsonage committee. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, gardening and reading. Survivors include his daughter, Catherine Hadley and her husband, Warren, of Cambridge; a son Floyd Kemp and his wife, Lori, of Black Mountain, N. C.; grandchildren and their spouses, Karen and Alan Lyman, Pamela Hadley and Matthew Rispoli, Timothy and Marydee Kemp, Ann Kemp and Patricia Kemp; great-grandchildren, Stephen and Kathie Kemp, Andrea and Lauren Lyman and Ellen Rispoli; sisters, Zella Peck of Mediapolis, Ruth Townsley of Donnelson and Ethel Buster of Wapello. Burial will be at the Grandview Cemetery. Miss Kemp was born Nov. 18, 1933, in Grandview, the daughter of Everett Leroy and Mary Frances Jackson Kemp. She enjoyed playing cards, watching TV especially game shows and doing embroidery. Survivors include her mother, Mary Frances Kemp of Grandview and five sisters, Vera Harvey and Connie Fougerty, both of Surprise, Ariz., Frances Wilson of Sun City, Ariz., Shirley Bramble of Muscatine and Debi Estabrook of Marshalltown. Services will be at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello. Pallbearers will be Jason Staats, Nicholas Kemp, Dan Adkinson, Bill Gerdes, Steve Kemp, and Jim Staats. The organist will be Bev Parsons and soloist will be Jason Staats. The Rev. Larry Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Iowa City Hospice. Mrs. Kemp was born Sept. 27, 1928, in Muscatine, the daughter of Hamilton G. and Julia Marie Bridges Downs. She married Neal R. Kemp on Nov. 5, 1948, at New Orleans, La. He died Jan. 9, 1992. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Pieper of Oviedo, Fla. and Julie Staats of Columbus Junction; a son, Paul Kemp of Wapello; nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Donna Robertson of Grandview. Peterson Center. Services were at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center Chapel. Memorials may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, Gideons International and Moody Bible Institute. The Honquist Family Funeral Services, 4255 North Mulford Road, Rockford, Ill. were in charge of arrangements. Mr. Kemp was born May 12, 1912, in Columbus Junction, the son of Abner and Ossie McCulley Kemp. He married Mabel Dorothy White on Aug. 2, 1953, at First Baptist Church, in Normal, Ill. He was born again Aug. 10, 1930, and accepted the Lord as his Savior. He lived in Iowa until 1950 and moved to Rockford in 1964. He graduated from Muscatine High School, Normal Training Department, Northern Iowa University, and Moody Bible Institute. He received his master's from Normal Illinois State University. He attended graduate school at Wheaton Illinois College. He taught for more than 47 years, includin! g Muscatine, Parkersburg, Bloomington Grace College of the Bible in Omaha Neb., Kankakee and Rockford, and Jefferson High School, retiring in 1977. He was a life member of the National Educators Christian Fellowship. A member of Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Child Evangelism Fellowship, Gideon International, Greater European Mission Team and Wycliffe's Fellowship Organization. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attended First Evangelical Free Church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; sons, Dr. David Kemp and his wife, Carolyn, of Chattanooga Tenn. and Stephen Kemp and his wife, Judy, of Beach Park Ill.; grandchildren, Melody, Angela, James, Michael and Sarah; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Kemp was born May 11, 1921, the son of James O. and Mabel Jones Kemp. He married Mary Etta Hunt on Dec. 10, 1953, in Tulsa, Okla. He owned and operated the Conesville Tavern, Southeast Iowa Seed Farm and Mott?s Melons. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing. He was a past member of Conesville Methodist Church, a Mason and Shriner and a member of Ducks Unlimited. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Lea Carey and husband Jeff of Columbus Junction and Vickie Kay Mincer and husband Frank of Lone Tree; five grandchildren, Mary, Curtis, Allison, Melissa and Holly; four great-grandchildren, Karlee, Kolton, Taylor and Payton; two brothers, Merle ?Lefty? Services are at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Jim Delveau, Bobbie Delveau, William Allison, Jay Robert Kemp, Jordie Beeding and Jason Beeding. Honorary pallbearers are Kerry Yashack and James Chadd. Burial will be at Indian Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Kemp was born on Oct. 1, 1912, in Louisa County, the daughter of John Lee and Jesse Bell Anthony McGill. She married Robert 'Bob' Kemp on Feb. 13, 1931, in Carthage, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1965. She attended school in Grandview. She and her husband live in Beacon, Letts and Wapello throughout their lives. She was a member of the Methodist Church, past member of the Eastern Star and the Hogback Hill Ladies Club. She enjoyed sewing but most of all loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters, Beverly and Janice, both of Muscatine and Roberta of Wapello; a sister, Edith Essex of Muscatine; 16 grandchildren, Denise, Jim, Bobbie, Vicki, Debbie, Cindy, Wanda, William, Bernadean, Beth Ann, Jay, Robert, Rondalyn, Jeanette, Joyce, Jordie and Jason; 30 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
