William's Tombstone has the GAR Emblem and it looks like the inscription says CO K IA INF. Might be a 12 there too. The 1880 Census in Kansas states that he was born in Indiana and both his parents were born in Virginia. Three of his Children; Annitta (1866), Frank P.(1868-1910) and Ralph(1862) were born in Michigan and the youngest four; Ruth E. (1875), The Twins Pearl(1877-1954) & Earl (1877-1946) and Amy(1881-1962) were born in Kansas. My GG Grandmother, William's Wife was Clarissa "Clara" KEMP ( 1884-1925). Maiden Name Unknown. According to the same Census she too was born in Indiana but both her Parents were born in Ohio. Son Frank P. is buried with a Laura F KEMP ( 1875-1916) which could be his wife. There is also another Tombstone nearby which states Edna KEMP- COLLINS(1906-1937). So I am going to assume at this point that the Family started off in I! NDIANA (1839-1844 for sure but may be up until 1865 when the War ended) They were in Michigan from about 1866- 1870. They then moved to Harvey TWP, Smith County, KS. around 1875 and they were there until at least 1897 when my G Grandmother Ruth E. Kemp was married to my G Grandpa George Amos BAKER in Gaylord, Smith County, Kansas. Can anyone help be find out more about my Family? William's or Clara's Parents perhaps? Thank you! Blessings, Tami Baker Dean
