From his second marriage to Rachel Stith (Apr. 23, 1834 Franklin Co., IN) there are Elizabeth (abt. 1835), Mary F. (abt. 1837), William (june, 1839), Nathan (1842), Julia (abt. 1847), Oscar (abt, 1752), Adelbert (abt. 1854) and Emma (abt. 1858). It is William's son Francis P. "Frank" Kemp whom I have been researching. Tami Dean has been helpful. See also her postings. Alvah was born in Vermont in 1808. I believe he had a brother Nathan, but am not sure about other siblings. He died Nov. 12, 1863 in Alton, IL as a result of disease contracted during the Civil War. He is buried in the Alton National Cemetery, Madison, IL. Alvah's parents were Nehemiah Kemp (b. abt. 1781; d. Jul. 3, 1860 Lyme, Grafton, NH) and Betsy Snow (b, Jul. 27, 1871 Pomfret, Windsor, VT, d. Oct. 10, 1824). There are family trees at Familysearch.org for Betsy Snow that go way back into England and pass through Plymouth. They include John Alden and Priscilla Mullins of the Mayflower. I can't verify that information. You should study them and perhaps contact the submitter for the source of information. Please feel free to E-mail me directly if you would like to share other information.
