My Grt Grt Grandfather was William Kemp ( brn 1839 Indiana, died 1918 Gaylord, Smith County Kansas) He states in most of the Censuses that his Father was born in Vermont and his Mother was born in Virginia. I want to find his Parents! I know that he had a younger Brother Nathan Kemp who was born in Berrien County, Michigan on Oct. 27, 1842 so their missing Parents were there at that time. Nathan also reports that their Father was born in Vermont and his Mother in Virginia. William Kemp who lived in Berrien from at least 1842 to 1872 married April 2, 1865 in Berrien County to Clarissa/Clara Dalrymple. His brother Nathan Kemp married Sarah Carmen Kemp in 1892. Both Families migrated to Kirwin, Phillips County, Kansas by 1875. William's Family migrated to Gaylord, Smith County, Kansas by 1880. Their folks may have married in Indiana and died in Michigan. William and Clarissa had the following Children born to them while they were in Michig! an: Annitta/Armina <1866>, Frank Preston/ Francis <1868>, Jacob <1870> & Nathan Ralph Kemp brn Nov. 3, 1872. In Kirwin, Kansas; Ruth E.<1875> was born and the twins Pearl Wilbur and Earl William Kemp <1877>. William fought in the Civil War in an Iowa Regiment. Why Iowa? Michigan had regiments. Does anyone have a Kemp born in VERMONT, married someone from Virginia, who gave birth to a William Kemp in Indiana (County Unknown) and a Nathan in Berrien, Michigan? Okay, I will settle for any Kemp who had a Son in Indiana in or around 1839. I'm grasping at straws here. Thank you, Blessings, Tami
