She is my brickwall. Are there any KEMP's out there who may have some information for me. She immigrated in 1882 to USA and married Joseph TUCKER in Pennsylvania. She listed her birthday as February 6, 1855 but I suspect the year is wrong. I have had a search of England Birth records done but there were no matching Janes. No other information is available. She didn't leave much of a trail.
My most mysterious ancestor is William Kemp. He drops out of the sky and marries Matilda Parks, August 27, 1837 in Richland Co., Ohio. The 1840 census shows no William Kemp and family in Richland Co. I have an unofficial Kemp genealogy published in the 1970s that states that they had 3 children, Van Buren Kemp, Perry Kemp and Andrew Kemp. No source for this. The next thing we know is that Matilda (Parks) Kemp dies on January 19, 1844, in Morrow Co. Matilda was the daughter of David Parks and Elizabeth La(u)nce. She is buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Richland Co. In the 1850, no sign of William, Perry or Van Buren. Andrew Kemp shows up in Coshocton Co., 7 years old. He marries Eliza Mikesell in Coshocton Co., in 1868. They eventually settled in Danville, Knox Co. Andrew is my ggggrandfather in law.

George was raised by Jim TANNER of KY and I believe the KEMP and succeeding FOWLER lines remained close friends/family to the TANNER family. It may have been KEMP family that owned slaves in KY or could have been the family name of Louise Kemp's maternal grandparents

Chauncey A., Jr., John Over the years I have exchanged much information with various Kemp researchers and documentation is extensive on the lineages. Now I am starting a new venture into helping with the tracing of the Kemp lineage. I have started a Kemp-DNA Mailing List and a Kemp Surname Y-DNA Project. If you want to participate in such a venture then here are the links: Kemp-DNA Mailing List: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/DNA/KEMP-DNA.html Kemp Surname Y-DNA Project: http://www.dnaheritage.com/oracle/join.asp?GroupUnique=885953287 I also have put the Kemp Y-DNA Project on a temporary web page at: http://www.cottrellweb.com/dna2.htm I believe with the paperwork genealogy and the dna testing working in conjuction with each other, the Kemp lines will be able to further get an understanding of ancestors.
