He probably died between 1791 and 1799, as an entry in deed book of 1799 records a land dispute, says he died intestate, and names heirs as daughters Sally, Barbara, Sarah, and sons John and James (James being under 21 yrs. of age). Daughter Barbara married Thomas Cooke in Frederick Co. in 1792, who deceased in Grainger Co., TN, abt. 1799, and then she married Richard Hankins in Grainger Co. in 1801. It is possible that son John Kemp was the John Kemp who was executor of the estate of James Kemp, had a wife named Nancy, and who deceased abt 1808 leaving his son William as executor, then William deceased abt 1817. I don't have the proof that the two Johns are the same man.
