He is buried at Manila American Cemetery in the Phiippines. We also welcome any information that would lead us to find the family of this Indiana hero. Hello, I am a retired American residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. A year ago we visited the memorial as visitors but came home with a mission in our hearts. As we gazed over the beautifully manicured acres and the 17,202 American graves, it was obvious only a few families had ever visited their graves. I stepped into the soft grass and focused my camera on one of the white crosses, a grave of an Ohio soldier. A strange calmness was in the air as I walked a few more steps and a cross of an Indiana soldier lay square in my path. The letters of the inscription on the marker was bolder than ever, here lay a soldier from my home state. At that moment a quiet brainstorm aroused my humble thoughts. I wondered if I could locate any of the families of these men. My stride became more defined and within a few moments I had located and photographed eight more graves. Since those gut-wrenching but touching moments we have energized our efforts in finding the families of these American men from Indiana. We have located well over 100 and have delivered the FREE photographs to them via email. Please visit our website and see the men we have honored and the families we have assisted in finding a more genuine closure of a horrible tragedy. http://fizkid.tripod.com/ Our success in finding the families was the result of journalists, amateur genealogists, historians, historical societies, librarians and lots of wonderful Hoosiers and those with Indiana ties across America. During our search we have also reached families from other states as well and have filled special requests for photos from the Manila American Cemetery. We presently have photographed only the graves of the Indiana soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen; however we have photographed all of the names that are engraved on the "Tablets of the Missing". We offer them free of charge to anyone who asks. We ask for your help in finding their families. We understand this is a genealogy board but we do not need immediate genealogy in that form, we need leads to find the families. Please become one of our special volunteers today and find the family of an Indiana serviceman from near your home. A list of the men from your Indiana county is available, free and all you must do is request it. Dave and Apple Dwiggins San Pablo City, Philippines

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes). It includes the following name(s): Kemp, Miriam Watt (Watt) There's over 1,900 records, so I've only listed the name(s), as it appears in the yearbook in this message. If you would like to view all of the information that I extracted from the yearbook, I have uploaded it to my freepages genealogy web site. The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/research/1929marshallite/1929marshallite1.html Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.html Please note that my site contains free genealogy related data & IS NOT a "commercial" or "advertising" site. Until I can get back out & do research on my own families, my hobby is posting free genealogy related data online that may help other reseachers. I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site (including information others send to me to share on the site), not just data about the families I am researching (therefore I can't answer questions about everyone I have listed on the site). I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . . Susan :) Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.html
do the Kemps mentioned in previous messages have any connection with the Kemps of Mason County, IL, or Sparta, WI? Thanks. Karen

Hi all! We are researching ancestors, descendants and collaterals for John Lane Kemp, b. 1796 Teddington, England. Married (at current count) 4 women, outlived all but the last. He had several namesake children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. His ancestral family was largely from Teddington, but he moved to Kingston upon Thames area and his descendants largely stayed there, with one daughter emigrating to Australia with her husband (walter henry simons). We are in the States. Looking forward to "meeting" you all. Kathryn Lui-Beutel

Hi I am researching the family of Josephine Kemp. She was born 1859 in the Bahamas, Nassaw and married Robert Whittleton, one of their daughters was Kathleen J. Whittleton b. 1890 in the Bahamas. The reason for trying to trace Josephine's family is her daughter Kathleen called her home residence "Derecourt" in Worthing, England in about the 1920's onwards. I am trying to find where the "Derecourt" fits into their family history. Kind Regards Dorothy Derecourt
