Which, unfortunately is the sum total of our information and this was gleaned from his army service. Family legend says that he joined the Army in the West Indies! why from there I do not know but it is thought that there was another part of the family there, and that his parents may have died. this is of no help to you!! but we have literally hit a brick wall. Hoping to hear from You Ann Pring Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. This is what I know..My ggf was born in Ohio...possibly sent on an orphan train to Missouri..G L Kemp was his name, but my mother referred to him as Lon. Records in Missouri show George. Census records show that he came from Ohio... Also the Lon Kemp I found on Orphan train records state he was from Ohio as well. Your post caught my eye because you had written that their mother died when your ggf was a child. My grandfather, George, was born in 1848..so the dates could work...would love to hear from you. Thanks...Lisa Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
