    1. [KEMP] James Kemp, wife Barbary, d. Frederick Co., VA 179?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: bonnieknauss23 Surnames: Kemp, Camp, Hankins Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.kemp/1778/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm hoping someone will recognize this Kemp family from Frederick Co. VA. If I have the right parents of Barbary Kemp Cook Hankins then she had siblings John and James - but I don't know anything else about the family. On 13 Mar 1792 Thomas Cooke/Cocke married Barbary Kemp/Camp in Frederick Co., VA. They had at least 2 daughters before his death in 1799 and she remarried, this time to Richard Hankins (28 May 1801 in Grainger Co., TN). This second marriage was the union that produced my ancestor Peggy Hankins Swafford and her other full siblings that ended up in Missouri. I believe that Barbary's parents were James Kemp and Barbary (maiden name unknown) based on a will abstract I once saw and can't locate again. I do know that her mother was named Barbary Camp when Barbary Hankins deeded property to her mother in Bledsoe Co., TN, in 1825. Any help or data would be appreciated. Thank you. 1. [KEMP] Who was Richard Kemp in Missouri?
    2. G.J.Pace
    3. I found these two entries on the Madison Co., MO site. Who is this Richard Kemp? Ellis Beverly Kemp (8 Apr. 1814 - 26 Aug. 1862) and Sampson Dixon Kemp (25 Aug. 1837 - 30 Nov. 1864) emigrated from Smith & Macon Counties, TN and settled in the Madison Co., MO area, but I don't have in my notes a Richard Kemp who fits, other than possibly Richard Kemp pere (1774 - 1850<), son of Henry B. Kemp, but I have no record that Richard pere ever traveled to / lived in MO. Author: elaineh67 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.kemp/1766.4/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have had my MtDNA done, My great, great grandmother was Emma Kemp - in Canada - her father was Charles Kemp and mother was Jeannie Munroe. My MtDNA shows a strong match to Haplogroup C2 - a big shock really - as all my relatives were either Irish, English or Scottish. Haplogroup C2 is polynesian - which means one of my grandfathers down the line married a native to one of the islands in the south pacific. Do you know if there were any Kemps that went to the SouthPacfic and then made their way to Canada? Not to say that Jeannie Munroe was a pure native but some where doen the line one of her grandmothers was. And of course Jeannie's family might have come to Canada afterwards as well and she may have met Charles there.
