    2. I'm making some attempts to track back my own family based on my father's work. He had traced us back to the late eighteenth century using the mormons records. So I have details of Kemps from Luesk in Aberdeenshire. However when I got the latest census records it became clear that there was a mismatch. There is only 1 James Kemp born in 1842 according to the mormon records, but the chap they have is definitely not my ggf as the place of birth and family are different. If anyone does have him (born in Elgin) I'd be delighted. I can also share my other details if anyone wants them.

In this case of December 11, 1826, Isaac Kemp had a petition in Congress along with Samuel J. Runnells, David Runnells, James M. Bradford, John Kinchem, William Kinchem and William Clarkson all of Louisiana. I couldn't find out what happen to the petitions but it don't go through I looked at each name but found nothing. 2. My cousin (Jason Davis/Saint Helena Parish) told me that the original site of Jonathan Kemp's Plantation (which supposedly has a grave site on it) is just outside of Greensburg. Some of the land where the plantation and grave site is located was willed to the negro slaves of Capt. Jonathan Kemp. And the colored people who now own the property today claim that they are the living descendants of the slaves. I haven't talked to Mrs. Inez Tate of Greensburg to verify all of this but I remember my Great Grandmother Ora Kemp telling me the same story. It's really interesting. My cousin is suppose to take me on a field trip to the site soon. I'm going to take some pictures and maybe even tape record some interviews with the colored family that reside there. I'll post all of this on my Ancestory.com web site so everyone can share it. Peter **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products.
