(GA?) It is possible that one or both had family in the area. Or they were looking for jobs. Were you adopted just after birth or as an older child? They must have lived in Rockwall County long enough to get a divorce. I'm wondering if your father served in the military, as I notice the marriage date was after WWII in 1946. Author: doc5keys Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.kemp/1923.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I just google-mapped Rockwall county & you're right, it's east of Garland. Here's the website for the County Clerk: http://www.rockwallcountytexas.com/index.aspx?nid=108 you can email them and ask what you have to do to get the copies you want. I'd start with the divorce decree and work backwards. The 1930 census is the latest census available at Ancestry. The 1940 census won't be available until next year. Good hunting. If I find anything else, I will post it here for you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. This was the only Thomas & Helen Kemp couple in Ancestry, young enough to qualify. There is also a Helen J Kemp located in the Social Security Death Index. She died in FL in 2000 and a Thomas S Kemp in the SSDI who died in GA in 1998. These may not be the same couple who got divorced in TX and may not be your parents. But it is a place to start. 3. There has been discussion lately about finding family members in the Dawes rolls (final) of the five Civilized Tribe, a census of recognized indians, available at http://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/finalroll.php Note that the census was of individuals living in Indian Territory 1898 - 1914, so the earliest birthdate of any registered individual would be 1898 - age and the latest birthdate would be 1914 - age.. 1. [KEMP] Jamie Lee Kemp Taylor - request for contact/publications assistance
    2. G.J.Pace
    3. Friends in genealogy: I need your assistance locating a Kemp researcher or her publications. I am a Kemp family researcher, specifically looking at the Kemps centered on Smith Co., TN and neighboring counties. The root of the line was Henry B. Kemp, born about 1740, who immigrated from Wake Co., North Carolina to Macon/Smith Co., TN. I am presently trying to push this Kemp line back to England/Wales but have basically hit the wall with Henry. I believe Henry's father was Richard Kemp, but do not know anything of Richard's birthplace, wife, children or parents. I have consistently encountered references to Jamie Lee Kemp Taylor's researches and publications and believe they would be most useful to me. The Email address (jamiekay@prodigy.net) on her web site does not work. After trying for 90 hours or so, an Email forwarder gave up as undeliverable the Email I sent to her at another address associated with her (HMMD63A@prodigy.com). Other of her posted Email addresses antedate these addresses and also do not work. The following is the Email I am trying to send to her. If any of you know how to reach her, I would very much appreciate knowing. Failing that, if any of you have these publications that I could borrow or that you could copy and send to me at my expense, or that I could borrow from a library, I would be most grateful. Thank you, Gary Pace San Jose, CA (g.j.pace@comcast.net) Dear Jamie Kay Kemp-Taylor, I am a Kemp family genealogist of the descendants and antecedents of Henry B. Kemp, born in NC about 1740, who emigrated with some of his family to the Smith & Macon Co., TN, areas, about 1812. I presently have about 1100 pp of main genealogy and many, many ancillary documents, such as annotated censuses, marriage lists, obituaries, court records, online posts, etc., primarily accumulated from online sources over the internet, mostly of this line of Kemps. I additionally correspond with Mary Knight and several Kemp cousins I am presently trying to push back the line through Henry's ancestors to England/Cornwall/Wales. I am also investigating the relationship of Henry B Kemp to Moses Kemp who married a Tate and founded the Kemp lines that run down the Carolinas into GA. I see that you have two Kemp books out there for $20 each - "Kemp Saga" and "Mixmaster" Are these books sufficiently different that I would find both useful? And would they address my pursuits mentioned above? I also note that your bibliography includes at least the following: Name Taylor, Jamie Kay Kemp, 1936- References (Use for) Taylor, Kay, 1936- Titles Early history of Kemps in North Carolina Early history of the Kemp families in Maryland : and other related information Handbook of Kemps--Mississippi Handbook of Kemps--Missouri Handbook of Kemps--Tennessee Handbook of Kemps--Texas Handbook of Kemps--Virginia Henry Kemp family handbook Kemp family newsletter Kemp handbook of Ohio Kemp handbook--Arkansas Kemp handbook--Georgia Kemp handbook--Kentucky Kemp handbook--Massachusetts Kemp handbook--South Carolina Kemp newsletter The Kemp roots Kemps of Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana newsletter Kemps of Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri & Kentucky Kemps of England Kemps of Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona newsletter Kemps of Texas newsletters Kemps with roots in Greenville County, South Carolina Maryland handbook of Kemps Middleton family journal North Carolina Kemp handbook Texas Kemp roots Do these publications include material not present in your two books above? If you think I would find these publications useful, especially the North Carolina (2), England and Henry Kemp titles, how might I acquire them and at what cost? Thank you for your consideration. I am in awe of your research and accomplishments With kind regards and good wishes, Gary Pace San Jose, CA researching the descendants and antecedents of Henry B. Kemp
