Does anyone know the siblings or parents of Frances Diana Kemp born in Spotsylvania, VA in about 1734. Married Henry Goodloe on Sept. 27, 1751 in Caroline Co.., VA [email protected]
John, I was reviewing my old Kemp family email and found this memo from you and no indication that there was a reply to your posting. I am researching my Kemp line that originates in Germany (Kaempff) so I seriously doubt we would be connected but thought I would drop you a line on this Thanksgiving holiday weekend (at least for us) and say hello. I live in a small village in Ohio, USA with my wife, Debbie and our 3 children, Andrew-16, Holly-14 and Peter-11. We homeschool our children and enjoy the outdoors alot. Mary Kemp born 1799/1806 married James Matthams born 1796/1798 on 26.6.1826. they had several children Henry Matthams born 1827 Mary Matthams born 1829 James Matthams born 1832 Joseph Matthams born 1846 (my g/grandfather) James Matthams (snr) died at sea and his wife Mary (Kemp) died in childbirth. I am sorry but that is all that I know at this point in time. Many thanks, Una.W.Australia. ==== KEMP Mailing List ==== Have you looked at the Queries section on the Web page lately? http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/1926
By now I'm sure you've all read the minutes of the last Business Meeting which Bob posted, including the announcement that the 2000 Reunion will be held in North Carolina. Now that our North Carolina members have convinced us it's the place to be in 2000, we need 2 members to volunteer as hosts. We've left the city up to you, as you know your state and resources the best. If you'd like to know what's involved, when to start planning it, or to volunteer for North Carolina, email me but please put North Carolina in 2000 as the subject ... I've just gotten back from the '97 reunion and an extended research trip in New England and literally have hundreds of messages to answer and this way I'll know its about the reunion and can answer promptly. Hi- Searching for info regarding Roman Kempski and wife Mary Banach, their siblings, or their descendants (some of whom went by the surname "Kemp"). Suspect Roman and Mary born about 1870-1890, 4 children born 1910- 1920. Children are: Elenore - born between 1910 & 1915, oldest of the kids, died young of unknown cause, Henry - born 1/10/1915, married Mary Martin, died 12/1/1981; 2 kids Edward and Robert, Irven - born 1/11/1918, married Louise Arado in 1946; 2 kids Wayne and Carol, Emily - born 6/16/1920, married Arthur Bogacz in 1942; 4 kids James, Judith, Catherine, and Stephen. Siblings to Roman include Joseph, Leo, and Max, and possibly one or two sisters. It is known that Roman and Henry shortened "Kempski" to "Kemp" around 1945 due to ease of spelling and pronounciation. Any connections? Joey VanUs [email protected] ==== KEMP Mailing List ==== Have you visited the KFA Web page lately? http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/1926
I've just returned home from a very successful 1997 Reunion of the Kemp Family Association. Over 20 Kemp researchers spent 3 days rummaging libraries, books and CD's in the suite, listening to lectures, and spending money on books. And of course, we've totally gorged ourselves on seafood!!! The Annual Association Meeting was held on Saturday, November 8th. The following items of business were completed.... 1) The current Board of Directors has been re-elected for another year. They are: President - Gene Kemp of Indiana Vice President - Steve Holt of Florida Sec'y/Treasurer - Bob Young of Connecticut Historian - Kay Taylor of Texas Webmistress - Linda Dolby of Texas 1998 Reunion - Linda Dolby 2) It was approved by the members to provide the Historian with $100 on an annual basis to help cover copying and postage expenses. 3) It was approved to maintain the annual dues at $10 for U.S. addresses, and $15 for foreign addresses. 4) Kevin Kemp of Salt Lake City has agreed to be the host for our 1999 Annual Reunion 5) It was approved that the 2000 Annual Reunion will be held in North Carolina. A final site will be determined later. 6) It was approved to consider the possibility of smaller regional Reunions for our many members in Australia and in Great Britain. * * * * * * * * * * The 1998 Reunion plans are finalized!! Be sure to check out the KFA web page for details. Dear Fellow Kemps, I am looking for any information on the 5th South Carolina Battalion. This was probably NOT a Civil War unit, but a post war Grand Army of the Republic Unit in or around Greenville, S.C. Edgar T. Kemp is said to have risen through the ranks to Major in this unit. A family sword probably belonging to him was recently identified as his probable sword while serving in this unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do not have any real information except prob 1867-1875 from sword expert. Here's my line, Sarah C. Kemp and Riddle D. Baker are my great-great-grandparents. If anyone has any ideas about this family, I'd love to correspond, most of the info comes from my work on the 1850 to 1880 census records, tax records of Weakley County, TN and a little bit from a county history that lists Francis Kemp as an early settler of Weakley County. I have no idea where in North Carolina they were from, I just have NC listed as place of birth on the 1860 census. I submitted this information a couple of years ago to the World Family Tree, so if anyone has it from there, I'm the source. Just not a very good one :-) Thanks for any help... A couple of ideas - We are always looking for someplace that has excellent research facilities nearby. Two places that come to mind are: Fort Wayne, Indiana Independence, Missouri Most have heard of the Fort Wayne Library, but few seem to know that at the Truman Library complex in Independence is a HUGE holding of books, manuscripts, and microfilm. In fact, the microfilm holding is supposed to be second only to LDS in Salt Lake City. Bob Young, Secretary Kemp Family Association ==== KEMP Mailing List ==== Are you ready to try "Chat" yet?
