    1. Updated Reunion News
    2. Linda J. Dolby
    3. Have just posted a tentative agenda and also updated previous info on the 1998 KFA Reunion to be held this year in Dallas, Texas. Checked with hotel on reservations thus far and was surprised to find I was the only one who had actually made reservations at the hotel, considering there are numerous people who have sent me their registration fees ... is everyone else from out of town camping? Feel free to make your hotel reservations, have included an 800 number on the Reunion page. Also, July 31st is only a few months away, so if you wish to take advantage of the lower registration fee, you might wish to send it while you're thinking of it. 1. KEMP in BURWASH SUSSEX ENGLAND
    2. John Kemp
    3. I have extracted all the mentions of the name Kemp from the book *Victorian Village*, The diaries of the Rev. John Coker Egerton who was Rector of the parish of Burwash in Sussex from 1857 to 1888. This is the village that my father and grandfather came from. Not only is the book of interest because it concerns Burwash, it is also a wonderful description of the conditions of the agricultural labourer in Britain during this period. If anyone is interested in the Kemp references, then please e-mail me and I will send the references as a file attachment. If anyone is interested in the book, then again e-mail me and I will send details. Kindest regards, John Kemp Gloucester UK

    1. RE: Looking for Andrew Kemp
    2. Steve, I am also researching Andrew J. Kemp from Ohio, but I think he is a different person. Mine was born about 1841 in VA. He married Susan Merrick (b. 1844, d. Sept 20, 1921)on Oct 15, 1866 in Lucas Co., OH. Their children were: Hattie, Mattie, William, Minerva, John, and Anna. They lived most of their lives in Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio, Fredericktown, Ohio, and Ottawa Lake, Michigan. I have noticed several Andrew J. Kemps in my research and would like to find out how many distinct individuals there were with this same name. Any thoughts from list members ? 3. Hello Kemps: My first posting. I am looking for Andrew J. Kemp, b. 1843, died, September 14, 1918 Howard Twp, , Knox County, Ohio, buried, Danville Ohio. Married Eliza Mikesell, b. September 11, 1848, d. May 28, 1938, m. September 5, 1868. 7 children. Eliza's lineage is documented in a genealogy book by Herald Mikesell. Mr. Mikesell lists Andrew J as a farmhand on a nearby farm owned by G. W. Nelson on Cullison Ridge, Perry TWP, Coschocton County. Andrew J. Kemp has no Civil War service despite is prime age in the 1860s. I have a photo of him taken around 1870 and he is wearing an Amish or Mennonite coat, but not wearing it in the Amish style which I believe means that he was no longer of Amish faith in 1868 but since he doesn't have Civil War service, he might have been with Amish in the 1860s. I have been told that there are currently Amish Kemps in Holmes County, Ohio and near Washington, Indiana. Can anyone help? Stephen R von Hitritz (spouse is Kimberly Kemp) my email [email protected]

    3. Bob, I am the Association's expert on the Kemp's of New England. Here's what is known and/or suspected about Samuel.... Samuel Kemp was born about 1640, possibly in Dedham, Mass. He married in Billerica on 23 May 1662 to Sarah Foster, daughter of Andrew and Ann (____) Foster. Both Samuel and Sarah are known to have been alive as late as August 1697, when yhey signed a land conveyance in Charlestown. There has been quite a bit of speculation on the relationships of Edward and Samuel Kemp, as well as Samuel and Andrew Foster (Samuel Foster married Edward Kemp's only daughter). I am continuing to peck away at these stories, trying to make as complete as possible the history of these eaest Kemp's in Mass. My hope is to have research ready for presentation at the Reunion in October 1998 in Dallas. Let me know if I can help you any further on this. 2. Received this message today. This Kemp line is no connection to mine. I thought maybe someone here on the list could help Kristie. TIA, Tim ======================================================================= Subject: Kemp Family History Date: Fri, 17 Apr 1998 18:05:59 -0500 From: MICHAEL GRUNTORAD <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Hello, I am writing from Nebraska, in 1938 my grnadmother purchased our home from Cynthia Kemp, we have been looking for other Kemp family members that may be related to them. They came to Nebraska in 1889 on this farm site and built out home sometime between 1889 and 1900. A neighbor has told us that out home was here in 1900. We are currently remodeling it. Cynthia's husband was killed in a railroad accident in Illinois. Cynthia was the mother and her son Shadrick and daughter Ellen, she had other daughters in other states. We have been to the museum and found everything we could on them and they are buried in the local cemetary. They seem to have no other realtion in Nebraska that I can locate. If you know of them or anyone realted I would greatly appreicate a reply. Thank You Kristie.

    3. I wonder if anyone can help me with the following two problems? I have found 2 marriages for daughters of a Captain David Kemp, circa late 1750-1780 Frederick Co., Md. believed to be a grandson of Conrad Kaempf. In my file I have only 2 David Kemp's that are in that era. #1 is David Kemp born 10-25-1764 and he is a son of Frederick 1725. I have no marriage on this David Kemp. #2 is David Kemp born 9-2-1778 and he married to Margaret Miller. I have this David Kemp as a son of Christian 1715. The newpaper articles I have are as follows: Miss Susan Kemp to John W. Charlton she is daughter of David of Frederick Co., Md. Married 6-1-1825 by Rev. Helfenstein. I have this Susan connected to Henry or John Henry and he is a brother to David of Frederick. The next newspaper article states Sept 29, 1829 Tues morning last John Walker of Ohio to Elizabeth Kemp, 2nd daughter of Captain David Kemp of Frederick Co. Md. They were married by Rev. Wachter. This last marriage may be a break on a problem I was having with the Kemp family of Mad River Twp., Mont Co., Ohio. I have been searching for 2 years trying to find an Elizabeth Kemp in that group who married a John Walker. Does anyone have any marriages for David Kemp born 10-25-1764? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Sally Kemp Hagins
