Hi: I don't know about the kemps you mention, but I am looking for my own kemps. My great grandfather came from Pennsylvania. My grandfather, Willis B Kemp, was born in northern Illinois. He had three brothers, Type, Odd, and Shade and a sister Dell. My two cousins are named William Kemp. One lives in DC and the other in Houston. The Illinois kempswere related to Judds, Talbots, Darnells. Can anyone help? Thanks. Seeking information regarding Dove Newton (D.N.) Kemp, born December 28, 1884 in Alabama. He was the son of Geroge W. Kemp and Rebecca Jane (Pool) Kemp. Rumor is that he left Alabama as a young adult and never returned. One source says he was in St. Louis, Missouri. Would like to know what happened to him, and hopefully to contact some of his descendants. Can anyone help? Thanks, Annette Shumate
I am looking for information on William Alexander Kemp, born March 16, 1814; died in 1852, probably in Chilton County, Alabama; and his wife, Margaret "Polly" Culp, born March 24, 1820; died August 16, 1911, buried in Chilton County, Alabama. They were listed in the 1850 Autuaga County, Alabama census. Who were their parents and siblings. Any information will be appreciated. I also need information regarding Rebecca Jane (Pool) Kemp, wife of George Washington Kemp. She was born December 25, 1851 (probably in the Autauga County area), and died May 2, 1919. Who were her parents and siblings. Need a marriage record for this couple. Can anyone help? Annette Shumate

I haven't tried this for awhile -- I am looking for my great grandmother's parents or siblings. Alice Mary KEMP was born 05 Dec 1853 reportedly somewhere in the Chicago IL area. She was orphaned early in life and went to live with an aunt or uncle. The only other piece of information I have is that she spoke with a thick brogue. Is there anyone out there researching the KEMP name in IL area that I could compare notes with? thank you janis nelson

Thank you to all those who came out of hiding to answer my post! :) My grandfather was George Matthew BAILEY. He was born somewhere in AR in 1867. I am beginning to believe his unknown father might have been killed in the Civil War. He and George's mother, Nettie B. HARRISON, were both born in TN, according to an OK 1910 census. Nettie and her sister Sarah were supposedly somehow related to the Pres. Wm Henry and Benj HARRISON. By 1910, Nettie was married to an unknown KEMP and came to visit her son in Gracemont, OK which George and his wife Alice Lucille BOAZMAN of TX founded. So George probably lived in TX, too. Down the street, according to the 1910 census, lived Badyne D. KEMP and his wife. He was 58 and she 60. They had 6 unknown living children out of 8 births. The census is difficult to read his wife's name. It could be Mary J or Nancy J. Both his parents were born in TN and her's in SC & NC. In the Gracemont cemetery are tombstones reading: B. D. KEMP 1851-1910 and JANE N. KEMP 1848-1928. Maybe his wife was named Nancy Jane or the reverse. If you have ANY comments at ALL please let me know. This is as close to finding my g grandfather as I have been able to come. All help would be greatly appreciated. T. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Have an Actually Better Day. HI, My gg grandfather Edward CAMP was born in Trumbull Co. OH in 1846. He died in Hillsdale Co. MI in 1913. m. 1. Mary MARKLEY in OH and 2. Susan Sacharias in MI I have been looking for information about Edward on the CAMP list for sometime with no luck. Since Edward could not read or write his name, I now believe that his name could have been KEMP or KAMP or even KAMPF. Edward CAMP/KEMP's parents were: Daniel CAMP/KEMP b. NY before 1830 and Mary CHURCH b. NY before 1831. Known children of Daniel and Mary CAMP/KEMP Edward CAMP/KEMP b. 1846 Julia CAMP/KEMP b. abt. 1854 m. WALTERS According to another researcher, Daniel's parents may have been Reuben CAMP/KEMP and Polly FOSTER. (I don't know where this information came from.) I believe Daniel CAMP/KEMP and Mary also lived in PA at one time. Children of Edward and Susan CAMP/KEMP: Ezra CAMP b. 1883 MI Bessy CAMP b. 1888 MI Josephine CAMP b. 1880 MI Jane or Jennie CAMP b. 1868 Burtes CAMP b. bef. 1880 Charles CAMP b. bef. 1880 Frank CAMP b. bef 1880 Can anyone help? Howdy.... Yes, there are quite a few Kemp researchers on this mail list. We seem to go weeks at a time with no traffic, and then have a flurry of activity. You mention that you'd like to find out more of your Kemp kin... why not let us know what your Kemp lines are. There are so many lines in America and around the world that no one knows if they might be able to help you. P.S. - if your Kemp's were originally in New England before 1850, let me know. That is the area of my "expertise". Bob Young, Secretary Kemp Family Association [email protected]
I had forgotten that I subscribed to this list since it has been almost three weeks ago and I have not received a single message. Is anybody out there? I sure would like to find out about some KEMPs!
