I'm looking to obtain semi-legit info on the family of Thomas CAMP, thru his wives Winifred Starling and Margaret Carney. Some of the families later went by surname KEMP so I'm addressing both groups. Hopefully I'm not stirring up any interclan arguments. I have some pages of the work of Col. Robert Neville Mann and Catherine (nee Cleek) Mann, CG, No. 47 (both desceased). Specifically this is "CAMP - KEMP FAMILY HISTORY", Volume I, printed in 1967. I have access to the complete book, but if possible I'd like to know if I can buy reprinted material. Also, there was supposed to be a Volume II, but I don't think Col. Mann and Catherine finished it. Is there now a Volume II, and if so can I get a copy or two or three? Appreciate any help. Allen Brock
Hi Kemps I'm trying to find info on Charles Kemp, b 31 Dec 1867, in Rhynie and Essie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland; parents John Kemp and Margaret Strachan; who died in Toronto, Canada on 15 July 1890. I don't know if he was married or had offspring. Probably not, he was quite young. He was, allegedly (and this is family rumour), a guard on a train which was held up by bandits who shot him. I'd love to know if this is true. Can anyone help? Graeme Kemp

To all fellow Kemp researchers: Halbert's of Bath, Ohio, are a bunch of hucksters, looking to part you from your hard earned cash. This company has been written about numerous times. It comes as no surprise that they are now preying on the international market, as they have had several injunctions against them by the U.S. Postal Service. In context, your $60.00 US would buy you six years of membership in the Kemp Family Association (or many other family groups), as well as at least one year's membership in most national genealogical societies (I belong to NGS and NEHGS - both less than $60 per year). The Halbert's books in reality are several pages of generic information about the surname - much of it nebulous or false - and a listing of "other Kemp's" in the world, gleaned from the telephone CD's, online groups, etc. I would be happy to share one of the articles about Halbert's with anyone who wishes a copy. Please send me an eMail, and I'll send it back to you as a text file, which can be opened in most any word processing program. Is there anyone who has a KEMP relation that was born in Belgium or France? My Great Grandfather Jean (John) J. KEMP was born 18 Aug 1830 in Dunkerque, France ? Belgium ?. On different documents I have found from him he lists his place of birth as France, Belgium, and Alsace Lorraine. I finally located the names of his parents John Baptiste KEMP and Ann LOONIS, but have been unable to contact anyone researching Loonis. Any suggestions as to how I should proceed would be appreciated. Linda Nebrich Beilein [email protected] http://www.buffnet.net/~lbeilein ICQ 7818295

Perhaps the reason they left without a trace is because they moved to Gwinnett County, GA. Timothy Hull Keeler, b. 1792, moved to Greenville County from South Salem, NY. Researching the Matthew (Mathias) and Rose KEMP family of Stephenson county, Illinois and later Ingham county, Michigan. Mathias KEMP and Rosalia (Hildebrandt) were married in 1876 Sauk county, Wisconsin. By the early 1900s they were in Freeport, Illinois with children- Mathew, Joseph, Frank, Hattie, Theresa, Rosa, Mary, and Eva. By 1920 the family had moved to Lansing, Michigan. Children married into the following families- Martinez, Gastman, Harris, Wassell, Hornberger, Mullen, and Deethardt. Matthew died 1921 in Lansing and Rose died 1952 in San Antonio, Texas. Would like to know more about the children in this family. [email protected]
according to one person who replied to Gen Forum : The Kemps of Gwinnett County, Georgia were originally from Greenville Co. South Carolina, their ancestors were Moses, Aaron and Richard Kemp. according to another message Richard Kemp was born about 1723 in Nansemond or Lower Norfolk County, Virginia and died 9 April 1782 in Orange County North Carolina . Richard Kemp married Susanna Piggott 29 January 1745/46 in Loudon County, Virginia, daughter of John Piggott and Margery Brown. Does any one have documentation on any of the above, and any more information on any of them, (mates and dates and places etc.) I would appreciate any help I can get. I have seen many requests to this list about KEMPS in USA and even England, but few, if any, for Scotland. The Kemp line I am researching goes back to a James KEMP who married a Barbara LAWSON of Kincraigie, Tough, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. So far I have confirmed that this couple had 5 children between 1823 and 1833. The eldest, William KEMP was born 01 Sep 1823 at Ardgouse, Tough, Aberdeenshire, Scotland and died 11 Apr 1911 at Whinhill, Fordoun, Kincardineshire, Scotland. He married a Mary TOUGH who was born at Little Eggie, Belhelvie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. William's younger siblings were all born at Hazlehead, Newhills, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. My wife, (nee KEMP) was born and raised in Aberdeenshire and is descended from William who is her great grandfather. Apart from names and birth details, I have little information for either her great grandfather's or grandfather's siblings. Is anyone else researching this line OR other KEMPs from Aberdeenshire, Scotland? David
