I am researching James Wheler Kemp, his father George, and anyone else regarding this family. James Wheler apparently was born in India and served under General Gordon of the British Army. He was given some land in Jamaica (a sugar plantation) and died there. He had several children: Reginald Wheler (my grandfather); Trevor; Kenneth; Penelope; Mabel; and Gwen. ALSO, I came across a 1997 message from a person with the email address [email protected] but this address is not good anymore. This person had the exact information I am seeking and we are obviously related. If ANYONE knows of this person, please let me know. Thank you very much. -- Jeff Kemp [email protected] "If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough."
I have just discovered evidence that my missing William Kemp, had a sister Mary Kemp who was born in Wheeling, Ohio Co., West Virginia, or as it was known then, Marshall Co., Virginia, on July 10, 1817. Mary m. Abraham Teeter, August 15, 1848, in Ohio and died in Ohio on January 24, 1890. Is anyone working on a Kemp family in West Virginia about this time? Steve von Hitritz in Richmond, VA

Hello I'm new to the list and pretty new at genealogy too. I've hit a brick wall already and any information would be most welcome. My Grandmothers name was Hilda Beatrice Kemp. She was born around 1906 and grew up in Steeple Bumpstead, Suffolk. There were 2 sisters, Winifred and Elsie and 1 brother, John. Around 1925 she married Thomas Alfred Evans. If anyone can help in any way I would be very grateful. Vic

I am researching Barnet Banes (Barney) KEMP. Barney was born July 2, 1833 in Alabama. He died August 19. 1906 in Mills County, Texas and is buried in the Pleasant Grove Community Cemetery in Mills County. He married Sarah Ellen BECKNER Gaines August 13, 1865 in Dallas County, Texas. Sarah was the mother of Simeon B. Gaines by a previous marriage to S. H. Gaines. Together Barney and Sarah had eleven children one of whom was my great grandmother Mary Adeline KEMP HORTON. If anyone has information of this line I would appreciate hearing from them, and, of course, would be glad to exchange information. H. E. "Tom" Locklear "Tom" Locklear=20

Enjoy! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "The Bridge" by Dorothy Hilliard Moffatt The way I walk I see my mother walking, The feet secure and firm upon the ground. The way I talk I hear my daughter talking, And hear my mother's echo in the sound. The way she thought I find myself now thinking, The generations linking In a firm continuum of mind. I have a friend, B. J. Grissom who has been researching the Kemp Family since 1940. She said Capt. Jonathan did live in Burke Co. NC. He did fight the Revolution under Alexander Osborn. He fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill NC (not another state). She said there are a lot of Kemps in MD and NC. She does not think that Capt. Jonathan (her ancestor) is the son of William. Ina Morris
