Just a reminder that many of us will be traveling to Salt Lake next week for the Kemp Family Association 1999 Reunion, Oct. 21 - 23, 1999. I myself plan to be there before the Reunion to take advantage of being able to research at the LDS Library and have a full week of research already planned. Should any of those planning to attend arrive earlier in the week, give me a ring at the hotel ... hate dining alone! It's never too late to join us for the 5th Annual Kemp Reunion. Don't miss this opportunity to meet other Kemp reseachers and to dig for your roots in the L.D.S. Family History Library. The reunion will be hosted by Kevin Kemp of Salt Lake City. Looking for background on John KEMP (1826-1885) and wife Margaretha OLDENHAUSEN (1825-1895) They had children Mathias, Margaret, Michael, and possibly more. Were in the Dane county, Wisconsin area and are both buried in Roxbury, Dane county, Wisconsin. Would be interested in parents of both, when and where married, when did they emigrate from Germany? Kay
Looking for descendants of Paul Mersereau and his second wife, Martha Kemp. Paul was born possibly on Staten Island, NY in 1737 and died either in New Brunswick or Staten Island on April 22, 1808. At this point we do not know who his parent are. Paul married first, Frances Marshall on Staten Island, NY, March 17, 1756. Then married Margaret Kemp with bonds posted in New York on November 26, 1778. Paul was a widow, married Margaret and moved to NB. David Mersereau was living with his step mother, Margaret Kemp in the year 1814. Paul was a loyalist and first moved to Beaver Harbor, Charlotte Co. NB. On Aug. 10, 1785 their was land sold at Wickham, Queens Co., NB. He arrived on part of the "June Fleet" on the ship "Dutchess of Gordon". Paul Mersereau, Sr. received Parrtown Lot 1102. Paul Mersereau, Jr. received Parrtown Lot No. 1096. On Sept. 27th, 1795, Paul Sr, and sons, Paul Jr. David of Wickham Parish, Queens Co petitioned for 800 acres in Queens Co. Paul Mersereau, Jr. of St. John City sold lot 39 Long Reach, Greenwich Parish, Kings Co. to Hugh Brown of St. John on NOv. 8th, 1785. Paul received 200 acres adjoing his brother David's lot in Wickham Parish, Queens Co, NB on Aug. 17th 1816. We are descendants of Paul Sr. and Frances Marshall through their daughter, Martha Mersereau, the sister of Paul, Jr., David, and John. Martha Mersereau married Amos Rooke of Staten Island and went with this group to NB, but returned to Staten Island, NY after about 5 years. We would love to connect with any descendants of this line of Mersereaus. Thanks! Jana Rooke

Greetings KEMP cousins, I received the following message from a visitor to my KEMP web pages. Thought someone here might could be of assistance to Bob. Tim ATTN:Anne. I cannot find Benjamin in my files here, but being from Talbot Co I'd almost bet it's the same KEMP's. I am forwarding this to the KEMP-L list at Rootsweb. Greetings KEMP cousins, I received the following message from a visitor to my KEMP web pages. Thought someone here might could be of assistance to Lori. Tim -------- Original Message -------- Subject: The Kemp Family Date: Thu, 02 Sep 1999 23:07:59 -0700 From: mark kraus <[email protected]> Reply-To: [email protected] To: [email protected] Hi Tim, My name is Lorraine J. Kraus. My mother, Irene Vera (Kemp) Pearl, was born in Ipswich, Suffolk, England in 1925 to her parents, Vera (White) Kemp and Bertram Kemp. My mother was a World War II English war bride and married my father, James G. Pearl, in 1944. In 1949, my mother came to America with my father and my 2 siblings and myself. All of my Grandad Kemp's siblings are now deceased. I would like to find out more about my mother's roots and several of my cousins my age can't provide me with that information either because they don't know. My grandparents were separated after the birth of my mother and divorced several years later. My mother had 3 older siblings: 1 brother (Bertie William Kemp) - deceased; 2 sisters, Ruby Rodgers and Florence Wright, both living in the Ipswich area. My grandmother reportedly came from Newcastle-on-Tyne, England near the Durham and York areas. She has been deceased for several years. I would like to find out more about hers and my grandfather's side of the family. Can you be of any help? Thanks for your time and assistance. I would love to hear what you find out about the Kemp family. Take care, Lori

Greetings, Cousins I have just uploaded the newest Kemp web page, devoted to the Kemp's of New England. Initially, I have covered 5 major lines of Kemp's - all of them originating before the Revolutionary War. Also, there is a complete accounting of all Kemp's in New England in the 1790 Federal Census. I still have a great deal of material to add. I've been researching the New England Kemp's for over 5 years. So, be sure to check back from time to time.
