    1. James T. Kemp, 1824 - 1873, Baltimore, MD
    2. Jennifer, Marty & Gryphon
    3. Hi! I am trying to find the antecedents of James T. Kemp of Baltimore Maryland. The 1850 Census lists James T. Kemp, 25; Ann M. Kemp, 20; and Harriet G. Kemp, 11 in Baltimore's 15th Ward. Here are his descendants: 1. James T. Kemp (1824 - 22 May 1873) & Clara C. Hagger (1819/1832 - 22 Nov 1887) 1.1a John Kersey Sears Kemp* (18 Jul 1855 - 21 Aug 1919) & Isabelle Greves (Belle) Muir (1 Jul 1856 - 17 Jul 1910) 1.1a.1 Clara Belle Kemp (8 Dec 1886 - 11 Nov 1967) & Charles Edward Rutter (31 Jan 1882 - 22 Feb 1947) 1.1a.2 Emma L. Kemp & Brown 1.1a.3 Martha (Mattie) Kemp & Galloway 1.1a.4 Mary G. Kemp & Leo Jackson 1.1b John Kersey Sears Kemp* (18 Jul 1855 - 21 Aug 1919) & Fannie ( - 31 Aug 1883) 1.2 Sarah Lavinia (Sallie) Kemp ( - 26 Oct 1910) & Albert Clark 1.2.1 Gerald W. Clark Because his son was named John Kersey Sears Kemp, I believe he may come from the kemps of Talbot County, Maryland, because there are also many Kersey and Sears families there. There were also Frederick County Swiss Kemps, but I haven't been able to find a connection to either family. The census said that his father was born in Maryland. This has been a very frustrating problem. If anyone has run across him, or is researching any of the other families mentioned, I would love to hear from you! Jennifer Sauer

My ancestor was WILLIAM MILFORD KEMP (born in 1834 in Devon, England) son of WILLIAM KEMP and ANN MILFORD TUCKER. He had a sister, Ellen that I know of. William Jr married GRACE HORTOP in Devon and they moved to Canada in 1860. In our family bible there is a picture of "Mr Moon" which probably dates from the late 1800's. No one in our family has any idea of who Mr Moon could be. Lynda

    3. Hi, Odell. I have no idea. I am copying this to the list since someone else may can answer your question. (And if so they are familiar with my line and I'd love to talk to them too). Everything I know about this line from William Augustus Frederick Caesar KEMP on up is online at http://www.mindspring.com/~tkemp/my_kemp_line.html . William Augustus is my ggg grandfather and is the brother of the Elizabeth KEMP you are asking about. I have smidgions (Is that a word? My grandmother Kemp said it a lot.) of information not online from him on down. If you do find a connection please let me know since that would give me a connection to some of the Wake Co., NC KEMP's and that would be nice since I live in Wake Co. I've met a bunch of KEMP's around here but know of no relation. > Odell Shaw wrote: > > Tim, can you tell me who Elizabeth Kemp, daughter of Dr. William Kemp > , married ? 3. Sent this originally on Saturday AM, but never saw it come over the list. I had sent it using a different email address so the list may have kicked it as not being a member. Will try again. Well, I hope everyone is having a GREAT time in Raleigh! I wish I was there with yall! I have looked forward to the Raleigh reunion ever since it was first announced that the 2000 KFA reunion would be held here. Now here I sit, 14 miles away from Raleigh, and my health is not allowing me to come. I figured I could get someone to drive me up just for Saturday evening, but decided I couldn't afford it for such a short time. So close, yet so far. Wish I had been able to get up there to see all you KEMP folks. I guess since I cannot be there to introduce myself I will introduce myself here to those of you who are not familiar with me. I am Tim Kemp of Fuquay-Varina, NC. (a small town in Southern Wake Co. about 14 miles S of Raleigh). My KEMP line from ROBERT KEMP "the Immigrant" is: ROBERT KEMP (b 1648; d 1702 ) Quaker immigrate from Yorkshire, England to Talbot County, Maryland in 1664 WILLIAM KEMP (b 1692 in MD; d 1729 in MD) WILLIAM KEMP (b ?; d 1771 in MD) WILLIAM KEMP (b ?; d 1796 in MD) WILLIAM AUGUSTUS FREDERICK CAESAR KEMP (b ?; d 1-2-1844 in MD) FREDERICK CAESAR KEMP (b 4-8-1827 in MD; d ? in MD) FREDERICK SAMUEL KEMP (b 8-30-1862 in Talbot Co. AL) TIMOTHY DURHAM KEMP (myself) (b 6-11-1952 in Chambers Co. AL; d I don't think so) A more detailed description of my personal KEMP line may be found at: http://www.mindspring.com/~tkemp/my_kemp_line.html I would love to locate other decendents of ROBERT KEMP and anyone who could help me fill in any of the blanks I have above. I am particually interested in personal life type biographical information on my line. The way someone lived, what they did, etc. is much more interesting to me than simple dates and locations. 3. Somepeople think that Reuben Kemp 1754-1834 who is buried in Scheckells Cemetery, Alton, Crawford County, Indiana is the son of Jason Kemp and Hannah Meers. I believe this to be wrong unless someone can provide further information. The following is what I have on Reuben Kemp. I also have a jpeg file on the marker of reuben kemp if anyone would care for a copy. Dan Houser Michigan ********************************************************************** Note--> Reuben Kemp was a Private in the Revolutionary War. Served under Captain Edward Worthington and General George Rogers Clark's Expedition. Service Pension # S16901 Virginia Line. In 1833 Reuben Kemp sold 80 acres of land located in Crawford County to Jesse Kemp. The deed doesn't reveal their relationship. On June 28, 1831, Jesse Kemp married Margrett Brown {Crawford County}. ASA and Solomon also married girls with the last name of Brown. Robert Kemp's family book says that ASA's wife was a sister to Solomon's and to William Coopers wife Margrett, Checking the Dubois County marriage list, I find that William Cooper married Margrett Brown in 1842. ___________________________________________ Reuben Kemp a colonial pioneer and Revolutionary soldier and pioneer settler and farmer of Kentucky. I don't have dates for these articles at present time. Henry Kemp married Sarah Cox August 13, 1828 probably in Dubois Co., Indiana, {Court House burned in 1839 destroying all records}. The information concerning Henry's marriage was given to Robert Kemp, by Henry's dau. Isabelle Kemp Simmons. I made contact with Robert Kemp's son Grester Kemp of Franklin, Indiana in 1983. He had all of his fathers Records. And was willing to share, many of the stories contained in this book are from his records. In several places I changed some of his information, because I've done research that shows he had some errors. The mistakes were mainly concerning the location of Reuben's land in Kentucky. He appeared on the tax list of Hardin County, Kentuck from 1795-1816. Reading the clerks statement at the end of the tax list it clearly states that Reuben's land was in the Nortwest district of Hardin Co. This is very close to Jefferson Co. and the Fall of the Ohio River, where his first wife Massey died {1804}. So I can see how the confussion came about. No records of Polly Ann Kemp have been found, and only a marriage record for Phebe Kemp has been found. {from Dan and Steve Kemp} *************************************************************
