May I suggest you send your browser to the "Making of America" site at: http://www.umdl.umich.edu/moa/ and do a search on KEMMERER! There is an interesting reference to Whitney & KEMMERER, Coal Shippers and Wholesale Dealers (1885) I have no idea who THIS Kemmerer is, but he has connections to PA. Their coal came from the Buck Mountain Vein in the Lackawanna District. Their shipping office was located at Mauch Chunk, at the head of the Lehigh Canal. Shipping radiated from Philadelphia.
