Hello, to all, I am a descendent of Peter & Louisa KEMMER, of Germany who came to the US via Wisconsin, I believe they were in the Racine area prior to 1860, and had a son Marx William in 1863. Peter always stated his father's name was Jacob or Jake. There was a Jake KEMMER in Wisconsin at the same time that fought in the civil war. They both moved with families to North Dakota, when the area opened for free homesteading land. Marx was 5 yrs old, he was raised in Shenford township near Sheldon, and Lisbon, ND, and married an Mary Elizabeth THOMPSON, they had numerous children, the oldest daughter was Rose, she was my g-grandmother, she married Walter HEATON. I saw several of the names KEMMER on the list, and hope there is someone who can connect with my KEMMER'S. Thanks Sue
Dear Jayne~ Any idea where your ancestors were from? Could Susan have been Susannah? Was John Phillip a John or Johann? If he was Johann, then his name was probably Phillip. Dear Claudia~ You need to talk with your grandmother & get some serious notes down. Another thing to get your older relatives to do is to identify photographs. I wished I had. Now, no one is alive that knows who these people were. If you plan on seeing her in person, it would be a good idea to take a tape recorder with you & just get her to tell her story. You will treasure that information in years to come as will your descendents. Kathy
Dear Claudia~ As long as you are a subscriber to the list, you will definately be included in the loop. Kathy

Yes Gerald, we are all interested I have a list of a bunch of KEMMRERS from the Hamilton Church that was originally in Northampton, but is now Monroe County. I will work on that entry in the next few days. Lots of KEMMERERS & SCHUPPS. Kathy
I think alot of the Northampton KEMMERERS are descendents of one of the KEMMERERS from the KEMMERER Family History book. Three brothers from the Palatinate. Two centuries of the KEMMERER Family According to the book, Johannes Nicholas-pioneer came from ZwerBrucken, Der Pfalz in 1730 settled near Hecktown, Northampton, PA. His son, Johannes Nicholas is the ancestor of most of the numerous KEMMERER clan of Northampton. While his son, John Jacob is ancestor of Monroe County clan Frederick came from Wurttemberg? in 1742 w/brother Henry, settled in Lower Milford. Henry had son Henry b. 1746 later moved to Northampton. Frederich had 7 kids ancestor of Lehigh & Montgomery County clans. Early KEMMERERS belonged to the Reformed Church, state church of the Palatinate. Ann (and Kathy); I'm in Dallas also and would love to research this more with you, if possible. My grandfather was Charles Roland Kemmerer, my father is Dr. William Taylor Kemmerer (also here in Texas). Grandfather was from St. Louis, and I'm just now putting together the pieces of the family history. Family memories say his family was Pennsylvania Dutch; I have so many papers/documents to go through that it will take some time to get this all put together. Please keep me in the loop. Thanks, Claudia Kemmerer

LUDWIG KAEMMERER born in ?Schaffenberg, Germany in 1858, he immigrated around 1880/1881 to New York City. In 1881/1882 he married Matilda Dobler/Dorbler b. Wurtemburg/Wittenburg, Germany in 1862. She arrived in America in May1881 aboard the ship Hapsburg from Bremen. Also aboard that ship was a GOTTLEIB KAMMERER. Unknown if he is related to Ludwig. Mathilda and Ludwig had four children b. 1883-1887. Ludwig was a baker in New York and died from TB in June 1891 and is buried in the Lutheran cemetery. The family later dropped the "e" and went by Kammerer. I have not yet begun any researchin German records .... any help or suggestions would be appreciated!
