Patti, You sound like me! I, too, am looking for a John Kelly--but I don't know if it's Tennessee, Kentucky, or Virginia--he lived in all three. Would your John have had a son named William Nicholas Alexander (who went by Bill, or William A.), born in 1871? According to my grandfather (William's son), William said he "grew up" in Tennessee. But William was born in Lee County, Virginia, and at the time of his marriage (1891), he lived in Bell County, Kentucky. On his marriage license (married Sarah Fee, in Lee County, VA), his parents are shown as "J and E Kelly." Our John lived to be about 96 years old (again, according to my grandfather), and died in the 1940's. Theresa
